Czechoslovakian Wolfdogs, American Wolfdogs, Wolf Hybrids – What are the differences?
Andre February 26th 2018
The world of wolfdogs can be confusing, especially as terminology varies between Britain and the States. American Wolfdogs (AWD) are a mix between any wolf and any dog breed – known just as wolfdog in the US or also as “Wolf Hybrid” in Europe.
By contrast, the Czechoslovakian wolfdog (CWD) is a pure breed domestic dog. Although the Czechoslovakian Wolfdog also stems from a mix between wolf and dog, it comes from the selective breeding of German Shepherds with Carpathian wolves to create a pure-bred working dog that is a registered breed, with consistency in looks, health and temperament.
The American Wolfdog can be low-, mid- or high content wolf which all differ greatly, and can carry timber, arctic or other wolf types. Between the wolves having different characteristics, and the choice of dog breeds they are mixed with, the resulting offspring vary hugely in nature and in size. The American Wolfdog can be considerably larger than the Czechoslovakian Wolfdog.
The comparison of a low content American Wolfdog to a Czechoslovakian Wolfdog would be the easiest to explain. Both types of animal come with their own challenges and joys.
Having bred both for 15 years, I find the Czechoslovakian Wolfdogs more difficult puppies – they are very mouthy and high energy, needing a lot of training, mental stimulation and work for the first 2 years. Hard work pays off though – if you are educated on how to work these dogs, and train consistently, when you have reached the 2-year milestone you will have a very balanced nice all-round dog. There are many fields the Czechoslovakian Wolfdog will excel in, such as search and rescue, agility, running in harness, tracking and many more.
The low-content American Wolfdog puppies are not as high energy, much less mouthy and in some respects easier to train at first. However long term, as adults, they are far from the domestic dogs we are used to and will not have any interest in the activities mentioned above, certainly not competitively.
Mid-content American Wolfdogs are a different ballgame altogether and require very experienced handlers as they can be very shy, and thus very difficult. As the mid content matures, they are unlikely to enjoy the same life as a domestic breed – everything can be a drama, even things as simple as friends coming in to the home can really scare them, traveling to the vets can mean elevated levels of stress, weeing and being very sick. Even with patience and training some animals may never grow out of this. If you are not prepared to the lifestyle changes required for this type of pet, it isn’t right for you.
The high content American Wolfdogs have an exceptionally high prey drive, will be very shy and not want to ever leave the home. They can be exceptionally destructive and unhappy living in the house, so require a high security enclosure. I don’t believe a high content should be purchased as a pet dog – please ensure you know what you are purchasing if you are buying a puppy.
When picking any breed, you need to think about what activities you would like to do with your new family addition and what lifestyle you wish for and can afford, in order to find the one that will suit you best. The Czechoslovakian Wolfdog has been bred as all other domesticated and standardised dog breeds, displaying particular traits and behaviours as well as a phenotypical look. This is what makes each breed of dog different, and the Czechoslovakian Wolfdog exactly this – a breed of dog in its own right.

Imported Czechoslovakian wolf dog verses UK bred Czechoslovakian wolf dog.
My personal reasoning for purchasing your puppy from a breeder in the UK would be you can meet both parents of the puppies and interact with the dogs make sure you are happy with their temperaments, and see the dogs are kept in a nice environment.
You have better chance to build a good repport with your breeder as they will also be able to offer support at all stages of the dog’s life.
There is much more likelihood of you being able to visit your puppy on a regular basis and get to know the litter.
Once you have chosen your puppy you can start to bond with them.
Given all the information on puppy development you and your puppy will miss out on so much of this if you import your puppy as the pet passport will not allow a puppy to come in to the UK before a minimum age of 15 weeks.
This would be one of the most important reason for me to say buying in the UK would be better for puppy and owner as missing out on developmental stages with your puppy will make things so much more difficult for you both.

This is based more on a scientific prospective from what we have learnt over many years there are crucial developmental stages in a puppy’s life.

puppies have a small window of time during brain development when they are most impressionable. This is called the imprinting, or critical learning period. For puppies, the imprinting period is during the first 16 weeks of life. Puppies learn more during this time than they can learn in a life time. Therefore, the quality and quantity of what they experience will have an enormous impact on their future personalities and determine the formation of many of their “good” or “bad” behaviour tendencies. In fact, such vast change in development happens with each day that passes, the Imprinting Period is further sub-divided into multiple distinct puppy-stages.
8 to 10.5 Weeks Fear Imprint Period:
Whilst the Pup is going through human socialisation it also has an important fear/hazard avoidance period. This starts at 5 weeks and peaks between 8 and 10.5 weeks.
Any traumatic, frightening or painful experience will have a more lasting effect on the puppy than if it occurred at any other time in its life.
This is the period that you do not handle it correctly can give you dog a lasting fear of traffic, Vets or other frightening experiences, noises or events.

4–6 Months
During this time, your puppy will gain more energy, and become more “mouthy” and restless from the discomfort of teething as the baby teeth begin to fall out and the adult teeth erupt. This will typically occur between 4-6 months of age, but sometimes lasts longer.

2nd Fear-Impact Period: Starting in the 5th month of the Juvenile period, there may be a Second Fear-Impact Period that lasts for 3 weeks. This is like the First Fear-Impact Period. If it does not occur at this time, it will occur later during the Adolescent Period.
6–12 Months
your puppy will now be attaining full puppy power and will begin to test their wings! This is usually a tough time for many puppy owners but can be much harder for those with puppies that missed the early establishment of boundaries, socialization and training.

Your puppy will be likely to have much more energy, spend more time exploring the environment, become easily distracted, and may even seem less interested in you and forgetful of previous training skills. Just be patient, consistent, and supportive—make sure boundaries are still well in place, review your training, and continue building on your successes.

This week has been so busy to make it easier I am just going to do a summary of the week rather than day by day.
Sunday was good I had the morning to myself with time to spend with the dogs.
The afternoon I had a couple of people booked in to see the hybrids and spend time with them.
Monday
The morning was full on I got everyone done and sorted out the builders.
Vicci came up with Buck and we were cleaning and power washing most of the day.
We didn’t stop much for coffee it was just constant.
Tuesday
Kirsty popped in with Lupus to have his nails cut and she helped us hold Buck for his nails that might sound easy but it took an hour to do the pair of them.
Had some things to sort out with the web site as it has just been updated.
I am thinking Taska could be coming into season as she has been really hard on Aimie when Aimie took Coosa’s food Taska gave her a severe scuffing and wouldn’t let up very quickly.

After Vicky left I went off to see Nath and Sophie.
Wednesday
I was busy with people on the phone most of the morning and then a quick bath as my neck was really hurting.
My next job was to get the cages sorted out in the van ready to go up to Worcester to meet up with Racheal to drop off a poodle pup and pick up Enya.
After the day’s work was finished I drove up to Worcestershire and met up with Rach and had dinner, I brought Enya home and Rach took my poodle puppy up to hers for the night to be picked up by his new owner.
I finally got home at midnight as part of the motorway was closed, I finished my dogs at 1.30 am and then bed.
Thursday
Second fix electrics in the house for the utility room, the painter was also here.
I had a couple of people booked in to visit the dogs and then Anna came over for the afternoon.
Friday
My internet started playing up I thought it was something and nothing but no obviously not.
I had a couple of visits booked in for mid and late afternoon.

Saturday
All the dogs were finished early as I wanted to get hold of my internet providers as the internet had been really slow and kept dropping out.
I contacted them and they couldn’t get it sorted so I went into town and bought a new router this didn’t help the issue so bt were informed to get an engineer out as soon as possible.
Hence no internet all weekend.
I had a few people booked in to see dogs for the weekend so Jacqui was checking my emails for me.
We had very heavy rain so the dogs were in for most of the later part of the morning and early afternoon.
When the rain finally stopped everyone was fed and had a run.
I was shredding newspaper and tiding up in the kennel.
We had a lot of rain until about 4 Pm when it dried up and everyone got out again.
Sunday
The rain was so heavy when I got up I took Shone’s group straight down to the bottom block with Fern and left them undercover.
I finished the top kennels and then came back down and picked up in the drive ready for a customer coming to visit his puppy.
All the re home girls from the last few weeks are doing really well, no problems with any of them so far.
I was doing the lunch time feeds I had intended to just leave Merlot and Patti in the front pen as the sky man was coming to put the dish back up somehow I forgot and let them out onto the drive within a few seconds they were mating right in the middle of the drive I had my fingers crossed they would be finished before he arrived.
Just in time the mating was over and gave me a few minutes to spare before the sky people arrived.
I had one other family view dogs in the later part of the afternoon and then evening feeding and lock up.

9th October

Saturday, October 8th, 2016

Saturday night the outside dogs were very vocal which made for a bad night’s sleep.
Sunday morning was dry but very cold everyone out, clean and fed.
Top groups all done and then I cleaned out the fridge in the garage and then the one in the kennel and swapped them over as the garage one is bigger and better for the dogs.
It was now getting hot which was nice.
I got all the chicken cut up and fed a little earlier than normal.
I fed nearly everyone before Wendy and Brian arrived to move the fridges around for me.
Our next task was to get all the apples and pears from the tree up by the top kennel down, that was a bit of a task but between us we managed to get most of them down.
Wendy took us out for lunch it was nice to get out for a while and get a cooked meal for a change.
I got home and swapped over dogs and then popped in to see Bobby and Wayne to see how the painting was going they were melting up on the scaffolding.
I sorted out a bit of washing in the house and then came back up to spend time with the dogs.
I spend the afternoon with the dogs as I made sure I had no one booked in.
Evening feeds done and then Shone and her group up to the kennel and fed.
I had a late call so a customer came at 9 pm I was concerned as I have not had Shone’s group up in my room when people have been here before and as there were 5 people I thought Shone or Voodoo may get stressed but they were brilliant and the people were really good and quiet so all went well.
After they left I finished off my dogs and did the feeds for morning and then bed.
Monday
A nice morning but cold all the kennel dogs were done and the gates were opened by 7.45 for the builders as the plasters were in early.
I locked up the gates and left the puppies out on the drive while I did the top groups.
After they were finished I had a few phone calls to catch up with.
I changed all the vet beds for the pups and then went out with Merlots group to spend time with Patti.
I got the puppy crates and cages ready in the van leads bedding and water all done ready for my outing later.
Lunch time feeds all done and then dogs all out for a good run.
I loaded up the puppies, Autumn, Winter and off we went to pick up my sisters puppy and adult dog and then down to the eye testing clinic.
Great results for my two and my sister’s adult Sheltie but not good news for her new puppy, she was blind.
Dogs all loaded back in the van and off to drop my sister’s dogs home and then back home with mine.
Evening feeds all done and morning feeds ready.
Shone’s group up and fed.
Bobby had been in for a couple of hours painting the windows.
Tuesday

I got home and did email’s phone calls and changed vet beds.
Lunch time feeds done and then the meat delivery arrived.
I did some paper shredding and killed another shredder.
Evening feeds done ready and then spent a couple of hours out with the dogs.
Off to see Nath, Sophie and Laura for dinner, Nath and I took Ralph for a walk we had dinner and then home to sort out my dogs.
Wednesday
An autumn start to the day fresh and windy but dry.
The kennel dogs done, normal builders in and top group done.
Towels and vet beds piled up ready for another days washing.
All the outside pens washed.
Lunch time feeds done.
A quick chat with the builders and then off to Argos for another shredder as I am running out of paper for bedding.
I got home and customers arrived to see the wolf dogs as they are staying in south Devon for a holiday.
After they left I sorted out more washing and then Bobby and Wayne arrived to do some more painting.
I stayed out for half an hour and had a chat with them.
Alan is a good way through fitting the utility room; hopefully soon it can be painted.
I did the evening feeds and then put most of the dogs in for the night.
I stopped for coffee with the lads and then finished off the dogs.
Thursday.
All the bottom groups done and then the builders and Hannah arrived to groom the dogs.
I finished the top groups and then got started on the washing.
A couple of people booked in to see dogs for future puppies.
I cut the chicken early as I was going to have to feed in between visits.
Paper work sorted out ready for three adult bitches going out this weekend.
My first visitors had left so I started feeding and then shredded loads of paper for bedding while waiting for the next visitors.
I took up bags of food for Coosa’s group as they are eating more biscuit this time of year.
My next visitors popped in for an hour and then after they left I went out with the dogs for a while and then got the evening feeds ready.
Everyone finished and fed just Narla and Shone’s group to feed and lock up Fern.
Friday
A busy morning getting everyone done before the builders and deliveries arrived.
Gates opened and top groups finished.
Washing already on the go.
Kiro’s yard cleaned.
My first visitors arrived and then another delivery.
It was going to be a day of dogs out and fit feeding in around visits
My first customers were looking at Labrador pups, the next for wolf dogs and then cracker was off out for the day with her new owner.
Peaches went to her new home that was so sad to see her go but I am sure she will be very happy if she is not she will come home just like any of my older dogs if they don’t settle then they come home again.
Lunch time feeds done and then the next visitors arrived to look at labradoodles.
The next customers arrived before these one’s had left so they stayed for a chat and then we looked at the labradoodle pups.
After they had all gone I had an hour to get sorted out before the next people to see the Labrador pups.
I changed vet beds again and then had a quick chat with the builders to sort out material orders.
I got the evening feeds ready and then saw my last customer of the day.
After they had left I locked everyone up and then brought Shone’s group up and fed them.
A few phone calls and then finished for the night.
Saturday
An early start as I had people booked in all day to see hybrids for future puppies and other pups.
Bobby was here painting.
Cracker went off for the day with David and then Biscuit went to her new home.
Kate came over and helped out for the day with pictures, feeding, washing and talking to people.
My last customer left just after 4 pm and then I had a couple of hours sorting out the dogs before evening feeding.
Everyone fed and shone’s group up for the night and finally finished just after dark.

Monday
Sorry for the late blog this week the Wolfzone web site has exceeded its bandwidth again due to heavy traffic.
I manged to get most of the dogs out for a run and food before the rain came down.
The puppies didn’t manage to get out so I let them run around the hall and kitchen for a while.
I did the top groups and then put Shone’s group down the bottom block as it was really wet.
I made a few phone calls and then got a couple of dogs booked in for an eye test in Tavistock.
I cut up all the chicken for lunch time feeding so when I get home I can feed straight away.
I took Winter and Biscuit to the vets Winter for a swab test and Biscuit to be spayed ready for her new home in a couple of weeks’ time.
I got home and unloaded the dogs and then got everyone fed in between heavy showers.
The pups got out for a run on the drive.
I had a brief chat with Alan to see how today went as we have our labourer back for a while.
All the dogs out for another run as it has now dried up for a while I hope.
Evening feeds done and then Shone’s group up for the night.
Tuesday
Some of the dogs got out in the dry but most got soaked.
All the top group finished.
I came back down and changed the vet beds in the puppy kennels.
None of the groups were going out at the moment it was just too wet.
I got the puppies out and played with them in the hall way, my poodle girl Seda is a crazy little monster she is so full of life and a little over the top.
I went up and cleaned out Coosa’s groups pen again as I hadn’t expected them to bother going out in the field if it was wet they normally just go inside and sleep.
A puppy left for her new home.
Lunch time feeds done some in the dry but again most got wet.
All afternoon it was dogs in and out each time the rain stopped.
Evening feeds done and then the top groups locked up.
Shone’s group up for food and then the puppies fed again.
Wednesday
A dry start all the kennel dogs done and then the gates opened for the builders.
Next was washing on and then the top groups done, Coosa’s pen needed disinfecting and hosing.
I finished them and then came down and swapped dogs over on the drive.
Next was a visit from a very nice couple from Bristol to meet Autumns litter.
After we had a chat and sorted out collection dates they left and I let dogs out and cut up the chicken ready for lunch time feeds.
Everyone fed and then more washing done I was expecting rain as it was overcast so I brought the vet beds in.
I spent time out with the dogs and then had half an hour in the house just sorting out a few bits.
Evening feeds ready and dogs swapped around.
I needed to get paper work ready for eye testing next week.
All the dogs had another run out in the field before the rain.
As it was now really wet I went back in to the house to do some tiding up to get a little straighter for when I finally move back in.
Shone’s group had to eat down the bottom block as it was too wet for them up at the kennel.
I woke up in the night feeling cold this may have been due to Voodoo was laying on my bed but what I hadn’t realised he had eaten most of the stuffing out of my duvet and ripped a big hole in the cover, he is so quiet I rarely hear him doing something in the night.
Thursday
All the dogs done some got wet and then the top groups finished, I washed Ferns pen as it was dirty and then gave Shone’s group some bones.
I got the washing all folded and put away.
I had a couple of puppies to clip feet and faces.
One of the poodle pups was going to Wales’s so I got the cage ready in the van and water and blankets all ready.
Lunch time feeds all done and puppies out for a run.
I had phone calls and emails to sort out and then the grooming list for Hannah as she was in on Friday.
In the afternoon everyone was out until 4 pm and then the rain came again.
I went off to Bristol, I got caught up in the rush hour traffic and a lorry had a blow out so I was an hour and a half later than expected but thankfully I was still there 20 minutes before the people I was meeting.
I picked up my new poodle and they left with their puppy.
I briefly popped into Nathan’s on the way home and saw Sophie for 5 minutes.
I got home and sorted all my dogs out and then was on the phone for about three hours, emails done and my dogs all fed, the new bitch settled in.
Friday
A bit wet to start but nothing too bad, the kennel dogs done and then the top groups, I went out with my new bitch and spent some time with her she is a little stressed and hasn’t eaten yet so I moved her in with Merlot and Biscuit as they are both quiet.
A quick trip to the dentist as half of my tooth broke off on Wednesday evening.
I got home and cut up the chicken ready for feeding.
I tidied up and did some more cleaning in the kennel.
I started the lunch time feeding and then popped into the house to get more washing done.
I went out with Merlot and the new girl I was sat on the bench trying to get her to come to me and Merlot peed all down my back, I was not impressed he has never done anything like this before.
After a change of clothes I went back out with Patti our new girl she is a little scared and unsure of the change in her life but I am sure she will settle down soon, if not she will have to be a house dog.
I had time to play with each group of dogs and then evening feeding.
Hannah held the dogs while I did the vaccines on the 12 that were due now.
Shone’s group came up and had food and then in for the night.
Saturday
I woke up to hear the rain what a great start to the day, some groups got wet but everyone was fed in their kennels as the rain was coming down so quick when all of a sudden the heavens just opened.
I did the top groups and then down to hose Kiro’s yard.
Biscuit had her new family come to visit her as she was not able to go home with them this weekend due to a large swelling from her spaying.
Bobby and Wayne arrived to paint inside the house as the weather was so wet.
Next customer didn’t turn up or bother to ring {nice people}.
I let the next lot of dogs out and then cut up the chicken.
I fed everyone which took nearly two hours as most groups eat outside, some were fed in the kennel and I hand fed Patti as she didn’t seem to have a clue what to do with raw chicken, I gave her cooked beef and tripe she loved that bless her.
Dogs were out whenever possible to try and avoid too many getting soaked I stayed around and did jobs in the office
I vaccinated the rest of the dogs that needed doing this week.
I popped in to see the painters and then got the evening feeds ready.
I locked up the top group and fed Shone’s group down the bottom block as I didn’t want them soaked.
Another week over.

Sunday
A warm start we did the kennel dogs and then Dave locked Kiro and Reo away for the first time.
We cleaned the top block and put Coosa’s group into another field for an hour while Dave took the old bones out, the pack have to be moved when you take bones out or they empty all the bags out again.
Narla went around the field following Dave like a little lost lamb.
I put the puppies out and sorted out the washing.
We had breakfast and then I moved Coosa’s group back over to their field.
We moved a few bits to the house to make it easier for me when I am sorting stuff out on my own.
Bobby and Wayne arrived to paint again today.
I shredded up a couple of bags of paper for bedding.
Lunch time feeds all done and the dogs out while I went out in the paddock with the brush cutter to get the stinging nettles cut down.
Narla was by the gate watching, Coosa group were all sleeping in the back pen but when they heard the brush cutter they all came out and stood watching, they are all really good with Narla laying by the gate right next to their field, there is a double fence so they cannot get hold of her ears or tail while she is so close to them.
After I had finished the paddock I didn’t feel like any more strimming as it was hot so I spent time with the dogs much more fun.
After being outside for an hour or more I hoovered in the kennel and washed the floors.
I shredded another bag of paper for spare bedding.
Evening feeds ready and then I cleaned ears on dogs.
I had cooked a big pan of beef for everyone for the next morning’s breakfast so I cut it all up and then fed everyone.
All the dogs were in by 7.30
Monday
All the dogs in the kennel done and gates open for Alan to get in.
Alan in gates locked and puppies out on the drive while I did the top groups.
After they were finished it was only a short time before it rained so I disinfected the front pen and then power washed it in the pouring rain.
I cut up the meat for lunch time feeds and left it in the fridge while I did some sorting out in the house for an hour.
Nathan arrived to do some electrics with Tommy I had 2 minutes to show him what was going where in the utility room and then Dan arrived to have a chat about wolf dogs.
I fed everyone in the rain half of the dogs ate in the hall way and then out for a quick wee.
Next David arrived to take Cracker out for a walk.
Next Jay and his friend arrived to pick up their poodle puppies, so the day was full on with constant phone calls.
Everyone had gone by 4 ish and I finished off my dogs and went out and picked up loads for meat for the dogs.
I got home and did the feeding and then had dinner.
I brought Shone’s group up and it was still raining.
Tuesday
Everyone out and finished in the kennel and then all fed lamb when they came back in.
Top groups done and fed out in the field and kennels cleaned.
Puppies were out on the drive eating lamb.
I spent an hour doing bits in the house.
I got the new freezer turned on ready for the chicken delivery today.
An hour on paper work and then the lunch time feeds done.
I spent time out with the dogs and then had a few minutes to see the builder.
Evening feeds done and then up to see Nath, Laura and Sophie.
I got home and fed everyone and locked up the top groups, Kiro out Fern fed and Shone’s group up to the kennel.
Wednesday
All the dogs from the kennel out fed and cleaned the top group done and then the builders arrived.
I went shopping and when I got home the plumber had also arrived.
I swapped over dogs and sorted out the shopping.
Next was to sort out some more paper work for a couple of hours.
Lunch time feeds done and puppies out on the drive.
Dogs changed over in the field.
I spent some time out with the puppies and then got the evening feeds done.
Shone’s group came up just before 7 pm and had their dinner.
Everyone locked up for the night.
Thursday
After a very wet night I was grateful the rain had stopped.
All the kennel dogs were cleaned fed and exercised.
Top groups done and then Hannah arrived to groom, the builders arrived.
I had a trip to the builder’s merchants as the plumber had not connected up the water to the top kennels.
Alan sorted out the water for me and then he carried on with plaster boarding.
I ordered more vaccines and then did the vaccines that were due now.
Hannah held the puppies while I did them.
I spent another two hours doing paper work and then the lunch time feeds.
The afternoon I had one visitor booked in to see puppies after they left I had a few phone calls to catch up with and then time out with the dogs.
Evening feeding done and hone’s group up and fed.
Friday
A really cold start to the morning, everyone finished and the top groups done.
The washing is out and then the vet beds piled up ready for washing.
Paper work done for the puppy leaving.
I brought Autumn my Labrador into the kennel as she is due to whelp next week and hasn’t been down here for a while so she is in with Winter until she has pups.
I briefly saw Alan the builder and sorted out a few bits for early next week as I am booked in the vets with a bitch for spaying on Monday morning.
The puppy has gone to her new home.
I have moved my poodle in with the little poodle boys, and the cockapoo boy that was company for my poodle Seda has now moved in with two labradoodle girls that I may keep.
This gives me a spare kennel for a while.
Lunch time feeding nearly finished and a customer arrived to see the Csv’s they were hoping to breed one of my boys with their dog and looking at the possibility of a female pup.
After they left I finished feeding and then spent all afternoon sorting out paper work for my accounts.
I did the evening feeds and brought the dogs in and fed Shone’s group.
Saturday
A very grey morning I was worried it was going to rain before I had got everyone out and cleaned but thankfully it just stayed looking over cast.
I finished the kennels and then did the top groups.
I had a few visitors so gates open and people time for a while.
Viccy came up to pick up meat and stayed for much longer than she expected.
Lunch time feeds done and then Kirsty and Jess arrived with loads of meat and stayed for coffee as Jess likes to see the dogs and check out the puppies.
Next Autumn started whelping this was unexpected she wasn’t due for another four to five days.
I sorted out the first pup and then left Viccy to carry on with her while I sorted out her rest of the dogs and got everyone where it was easy to get them out.
I fed everyone and then the puppies were fed.
Shone’s group came up to the kennel and then the heavens opened and this continued.
Viccy left after pup number 7 was born as the weather was awful for driving.
I was so pleased she was here.
The rain continued right through the night until 5 am the noise was horrendous.

18th September

Saturday, September 17th, 2016

Saturday night was really cold and the door had to stay open again for Voodoo so we had to freeze.
Sunday
We got up and did the kennel dogs and then the top groups.
As no one was booked in for today we had time to do some cleaning in the house.
Bobby and Wayne arrived to start prepping the front windows ready for them to paint next weekend.
We moved more stuff from the container to the house.
Dave and I scrubbed the floor in the utility room, we went over it twice and towel dried it ready for sealing on Monday.
I went out and spent time with Narla and Siren as I had to hand feed Siren tiny bits of chicken.
I had time to spend with all the dogs today which is nice I try to keep a day a week where we have no visitors so the dogs get more attention.
Lunch time feeds done and the dogs all out for the afternoon as the weather was really nice.
Evening feeds done and Shone’s group up to the kennel.
Voodoo ate his dinner tonight the first time in days; he must be feeling better as he opened the gate and helped Shone and Cito with their food.
We had dinner and then the dogs came in.
Morning feeds ready.
Monday
The morning was over cast but dry.
All the kennel dogs finished and then the top groups done.
I swapped over puppies in the front pen and did a few things in the kennel while Dave sealed the floor in the house.
I sorted out everything I needed to do in the kennel and got the van ready to take Siren to the vets.
I locked Narla in her outside pen and then loaded Siren into the van.
We got to the vets and Gavin looked at Siren and said the lump on his head was a secondary tumour so he would not have long and considering he was losing weight so fast and losing his balance it would not be good for him and his quality of life would be poor.
We decided it was best for Siren to let him go now.
We put him to sleep and I brought him home to rest with his sister.
I haven’t yet been able to face seeing Narla as she has lived with Siren for the last two years and now she will be on her own next to the Labradors until she has pups and I think I will keep one of her daughters for company for her.
In a busy kennel life goes on even if it is very hard so lunch time feeding done and everyone locked up while the farmer is here digging the hole for Siren so he can be buried in the field.
I popped back into the kennel and checked on Jazz she was just about to have a puppy so I got Dave to sit with her until Siren was buried and then I took over watching her.
Bless her she was a little fretful to start with but soon started to settle.
It was a very long whelping eventually finished after mid night.
Mum and pups are doing well.
The dogs all stayed out quite late and then I did the evening feeds and brought Shone’s group up and fed them.
I left the door open so they could just go in and out while I was with Jazz.
Tuesday
All the dogs done and the top group all sorted out and fed and then the heavens opened and we had thunder and a deluge for quite some time so everyone was in.
Dave finished off putting up blinds in the house and I sorted out some things in the office.
Still raining so I went down to the house to sort out a few bits and put some clothes away.
The meat delivery arrived so I sorted it out and then the rain stopped so I got everyone fed their chicken and got them all out for a run.
I cleaned the puppies out and put new beds in again, it seems to be constant vet bed changing at the moment.
Dave cleaned up beams in the house and then the rain was horrendous so we left early and went to see Nath, Laura and Sophie, we stayed for dinner and came home early so the dogs could all go out again.
We got home and sorted the dogs out and fed Shone’s group.
Wednesday
All the dogs done and then the top groups.
After they were all out and fed I power washed the top pens and Dave sorted out the bait boxes.
I popped out for meat and shopping and then came back and cut up the chicken ready for feeding a little later.
Dave had some odd bits to do we needed to channel the rain water from the lean-to in the drive further away from where Kiro has her winter night pen.
I fed everyone and then went out for a play with the poodle puppies and remembered to take my camera this time.
Dave finished off cleaning the beams and then put a few pictures up downstairs so it is looking more like a house now.
We had an hour where it was too hot for the dogs to go out so I did a few things which made it easier to take out the rubbish and the recycling while the gates could be open.
It cooled down to a nice temperature and everyone was back out again.
Poor Narla has not spent much time out in the field she has been laying by the gate to Coosa’s pack I think she prefers the company of his pack to her pen next to the Labradors.
Everyone fed and then all had a run in the field.
I gave my van cages a good clean as I could leave it all open to dry and air properly.
I cleaned up leaves and then the steps were full of leaves and bits everywhere it was starting to look like winter here.
I hoovered and tidied up in the office and then got the evening feeds ready.
After everyone was fed they all went back out for a run and then I brought Shone’s group up and fed them.
Thursday
A good start dry and warm all the kennel dogs done and then the builder and Hannah were in so gates shut and puppies out on the drive.
I went up to do the top kennels and Dave started to clean the gutters on the house, garage and kennel.
The fire was done and then I had my first load of washing from Hannah.
Dogs swapped over on the drive and then Hannah and clipped microchipped and wormed the poodle puppies, as each one were finished they went out in the front pen for a play with mum.
All the dogs were out until lunch time when they were fed and swapped over in the front pen and drive so the pups could go back out.
Everyone was out for the afternoon.
I spent time with Narla and then each puppy group.
One of my pups went to his new home yesterday so I had to find a companion for my last pup I kept, so she is now in with one of the cockapoo boys as he is very gentle.
I did the evening feeds and then a customer arrived to view pups and left with a little boy.
I brought all the dogs in and fed the top groups.
Shone’s group came up for the night.
Friday
All the dogs done and then the top group.
Micky was also here helping with the building and painting.
The dogs shower in the kennel was leaking so Micky put a new one on for me, thankfully it got us through the day before with Hannah bathing dogs all day.
I popped into town for freezer shopping and another shredder I left the dogs out as there were people around.
Dave hoovered all the high beams in the kennel and then we hoovered each individual kennel.
Lunch time feeds done and the dogs all out again.
All the vet beds washed.
I did the vaccines on the last 4 puppies.
A customer arrived to see the labradoodle girls and put a deposit on one of them to pick up in two weeks’ time.
David came for another visit with Cracker and took her around the field for a walk, she is getting very good with him now.
I sorted out some paper work and then got the evening feeds done and our food as the 6 pm customers did not show up.
All the dogs done and in by 8 pm.
After dinner Dave put the new bathroom cabinet together while I finished off in the kennel.
Saturday
The outside dogs woke me up at 4 am so I couldn’t get back to sleep I thought maybe time to get some paper work done and some adverts as everyone had gone back to sleep and it was quiet.
I did the dogs at normal time as before when I have decided to just do them early they them try to get me up earlier each day.
Everyone was finished in the kennels and the top group done.
Next was to power wash Ferns yard as they could stay out in the pen while it dried off.
Dave finished off the guttering on the garage and I spent some time with the family that are going to have Biscuit, she was great until they tried to put her in the car and then she got a bit upset but soon she will be used to it, she has gone for a few hours today to play with the children in the house and garden and she will be home tonight.
I had customers looking at puppies and then when they left I did the lunch time feeds.
Dave hoovered one of the big kennels to get the cobwebs down.
After I had finished feeding everyone went out again.
Dave power washed Ferns night pen for me while I went out and picked up meat.
I got home and fed everyone swapped over dogs that were out.
Top group locked up and fed.
All the washing brought in.
I froze the meat and then fed the pups and gave them a run in the drive.
Shone’s group up and fed while we had a snack as we had eaten lunch time.

11th September

Sunday
Vicci and I got up and did the dogs we were both really tired but we did the dogs in the kennel and then the top groups.
We did a quick clean on Coosa’s pen and planned to power wash it when we get time in the afternoon.
Next we went up to help clean the hall with Kirsty and jess after the wedding it took us about 2 hours and then we went for breakfast.
We got home and a customer arrived to see her puppy.
All the dogs went out and then we power washed Coosa’s pen.
Next was lunch time feeding, everyone fed and out for a run.
Everyone out in the afternoon until the rain was too heavy and then Vicci left to go home and I went to visit friends and then dropped in on my sister for coffee and then home to let everyone out and get the last few groups fed.
Shone’s group up and fed inside as it was really wet.
Monday
Another wet start so everyone out quickly and fed and cleaned and then I popped into town for bits from the cash and carry I was home by 10 am and still raining.
I sorted out the chicken so when the weather dries up I am already to feed.
I had things to sort out for the house and then I went out for a bit with the puppies.
I had to catch up on some paper work so I did an hour and then had to go back out with the dogs as I hate paper work and it gets me uptight when I would rather be outside.
David came to visit cracker again and take her for a walk around the drive and then to try putting her in and out of the car to see how she was, he was pleased with today’s visit bless him he has the patience of a saint he has been here so many times to get to know Cracker before she leaves in about a months’ time.
I cleaned ears on a couple of dogs and then did the evening feeds.
Everyone done and Shone’s group up for the night and fed.
Tuesday
Everyone out and finished Coosa’s pen cleaned and then just over three hours power washing the path and front pen.
I let groups of dogs out on the drive while I was cleaning.
After I had finished I fed everyone and then the chicken delivery arrived so I sorted that out and had a quick shower as I was splattered in dirt and mud.
Lunch time feeds done and then everyone out for the afternoon.
I sorted out washing and spent time with the puppies.
I got the hip and elbow scores today for Winter my Labrador I was over the moon 0 elbows and hips are 2.2.
Evening feeds done and then off to see Nath, Laura and Sophie, I stayed for dinner and then home early to get the dogs done before bed.
Wednesday
An early start everyone done and then the builders all arrived and the guy to do the floor in the utility room.
I did the top groups and hosed the pens.
Next I had to order more blinds for the house and look for a robot floor cleaner for the slate floor in the house.
I took the puppies out on the drive for a play and then feed them.
I fed all the kennel dogs their chicken and then had to see the builders again.
Rach rang up for a chat about the next litters we are breeding.
My next job was to get two kennels ready for whelping so after the puppies are born the mum and pups can move straight into the clean kennel so she is close to the office where it’s easier to hear the pups.
I wormed the poodle puppies and had a play with them I was mobbed by little red pups chewing and climbing all over me and Chianti trying to sit on my lap.
The web site needed updating with new pictures and health test results for the Labradors so I went out with Jez’s group and got a few more pictures and then sent them all up to be loaded onto the site.
I moved a few bits to the house and took the rubbish out ready to burn.
The builders had left Kiro’s yard in a terrible mess and the path down the side of the garage so I picked up a wheelbarrow load of mud and render and then hosed the yard by the time I had finished this in between swapping dogs it took me two hours.
Next was to move Shone’s group and feed them.
Voodoo didn’t eat which was a worry.
While they were eating I put the top groups away and cleaned the bottom block.
Morning feeds done ready and now time for dinner.
I was up every hour watching Char as she was overdue her puppies by two days, she finally started whelping at 3 am, so I put Shone’s group out to the toilet and then brought them in and gave them all cows ears so Voodoo didn’t eat half of my bedroom.
Thankfully they had only been in a few minutes before the heavens opened.
It rained really hard for three hours.
I hadn’t been back to bed long when Voodoo woke me up so I let him out and he was sick and then he came in soaked.
I was in and out of the kennel checking that Voodoo hadn’t got bored and Cito and shone was both really tired, Voodoo was aggravating Shone as he was not so sleepy, he likes food once he is awake but he was ok nothing damaged.
Char was very slow to deliver the second pup but when it came out it was followed by the third within seconds the second pup was really struggling to breathe and trying to clear the lungs was a long job I had to work on the little girl for over 40 minutes so we will have to wait and see her outcome.
As Dave is due to come down later today I decided as I was up I would get this evenings dinner prepared so I cut up our chicken and mushrooms and made honey and mustard chicken.
Human food is very low on the list of priorities here the dogs always come first.
Thursday
As I was up early I started feeding the kennel dogs at 5.30 and getting everyone out in between watching Char still whelping.
Voodoo still not very well and not eating with terrible runs now.
After I had finished all of the kennel dogs the builders and Hannah arrived so Hannah kept an eye on Char while I did the dogs at the top kennel.
I came back down and Char had her last puppy and then I changed her over to the next kennel while Hannah bathed her.
I cleaned the kennel she had the puppies in.
I had a couple of other kennels to clean out completely and then went out with the labs in the field.
The builders had run out of some stuff so Dave picked it up on his way down.
Micky a friend arrived to help out with some of the painting as we are running a little behind.

I had to sort out paper work for one of my hybrids that was dumped by a so called wolf expert as she is in danger of being put to sleep.

I got the lunch time feeds done and then had a visitor arrive to see the dogs.
After they left I popped into town very swiftly.
I just got back and Dave arrived, we had a look around the house and then had coffee.
Dave set to work giving my new hoover a service it was clogged up inside the filters.
We unloaded all the newspapers from Dave’s car and then swapped over dogs.
We had a couple of visitors for a short time and then we stopped for dinner.
All the dogs had there last run and then in for bed.
Friday
A really busy morning all the dogs out, cleaned and fed and the top group all done.
I had a customer arriving quite early so hoovered and washed the kennel floors.
I moved a few bits down to the house and had a chat with the builders, we also had micky the painter.
I washed everyone’s vet beds and got them up on the line as we had quite a bit of rain in the early part of the day.
Dave spent the morning tiding up after the builders and took everything up for burning this took most of the morning.
I spent time with the pups and then went out in the field with Siren and Narla, I am concerned about Siren so if there is no improvement in his condition and he is still looking miserable then I will take him to see Gavin on Monday as he is eating and losing weight.
I did the lunch time feeds and then let the pups out in the drive again.
Everyone was out for the afternoon.
I took a couple of pictures for a customer and then Dave and I moved everything around in the lean-to on the drive and sorted out all the newspapers to make room for a big night pen for Kiro and Reo when they come back to the top part of the drive in a few weeks’ time.
I did the evening feeds and then Shone’s group came up for food, Voodoo still not eating so yet another night I had to sleep with the door open for Voodoo to get out into the yard.
Saturday
We got up early and got the dogs done as Wendy and Brian were coming down to help get some stuff moved back into the house.
So we got the dogs finished in the kennel and then I did the top groups while Dave picked up in the drive.
Wendy and Brian arrived and Brian and Dave moved the panel in the lean to so it was much larger for Kiro.
Wendy and I started moving stuff to the house.
We stopped for breakfast and then a customer arrived to see the dogs.
The painters arrived so I went and sorted out what they were doing for the day.
My next customers arrived to look at labradoodles for the future.
I have a family that come with two little girls to visit Biscuit as they are intending to have her when she is spayed.
After they left we started moving tables and chairs and more things from the container to the house and then the bedroom furniture from my room in the kennel then all moved down to the house.
Most stuff has just left downstairs in the dogs kennels in the house.
I am hoping to get a bit done each day so I can get moved back in fairly soon but there is limited time for getting things sorted out when I spend 14 hours a day doing the dogs.
Everyone was fed a little later than normal and then I let all the dogs back out, poor Cracker came out of her kennel and started screaming, she has now only been allowed out on the drive for a wee, I had put her on an anti-inflammatory and will have a chat to Gavin on Monday.
I popped into the house to see the painters and then swapped over dogs in the field.
I tried to feed Siren again he is eating with his head tilted and only on one side of his mouth I am hoping it’s just a tooth problem but unsure as he has a large lump on his head.
After the pups had been on the drive for a run I moved my van outside the gates and then let Rupert group in the drive and the labs in the field and popped out to get some food shopping and picked up dinner on the way home.
When we got home I swapped over dogs and brought the washing in.
I locked up some of the dogs and Dave locked up the house and then I brought Shone’s group up and fed them and then finished off the kennel dogs while Dave tried to repair yet another paper shredder that I have manged to break.
It was 9 pm before we finished.

4th September

Saturday, September 3rd, 2016

Sunday morning was a damp start but not too bad, I let Merlots group out and cleaned the puppies when I went to get Merlots group in as they had been out ages and only half of the group came back to the gate I found Homer tied this was a surprise as this is his first good mating on his own since he arrived, he thought he would make the most of it as 45 minutes later they were still tied, not an ideal start to the morning running this far behind.
I washed up all the bowls and waited patiently for them to return so I could get Shone’s group out into the field they were still waiting out on the drive.
Enya has got a really nasty hot spot on her back so I have cleaned it all off and clipped it to stop any infection.
The puppies were creating as they should have been out on the drive for a run by now.
I cleaned the bottom block and Kiro’s yard and then came back Homer had finished so I put them away and let the puppies out.
I did the top groups and got back down just before the rain got too heavy.
Just enough time for coffee and breakfast before a customer arrived.
We tried Razzle on the mating the female Bella really didn’t like him and then he had a minor accident and was really dripping blood, so on that note I decided I didn’t want to use Razzle as he could well be too big for the bitch.
I had a chat with the owner of the bitch and we swapped over dogs and used the old boy Rupert.
We had a good mating and a good tie so hopefully more Rupert puppies on the way.
I just managed to get everyone out and the lab group swopped over and then everyone fed before my next customers arrived to pick up their puppy.
After they left I locked up again and got the puppies out on the drive for a good run.
I had time in-between people coming to spend time with each group when they were out.
Last customer late afternoon and then I fed Shone’s group early and let everyone out again.
My plans were to finish at 8 o clock for a change.
So evening feeds done and morning feeds ready.
Shone’s group up on the drive so they can either stay out or come in with me.
Bank holiday Monday
The kennel dogs woke me up just before 5 am so I got up and let Shone’s group out of my room and checked all the dogs everyone was ok so I brought Shone’s group back in and went back to bed for an hour and Voodoo stayed on the bed having a cuddle.
I then got up and let everyone out and fed them.
I had a mating early with Crumble and then did the top groups.
All the puppies had a great time running around on the drive.
I burnt loads of rubbish that had accumulated as I hadn’t been able to carry it all up the hill with my ribs hurting but now they are not so bad as long as I don’t try to carry too much.
Coosa’s group were all out eating and I was filling up buckets, Coosa came into the pen for a cuddle which was great until all the rest came hurtling in and tried to trample me, I then made my exit as I didn’t want everyone jumping on me.
I had several phone calls and emails to sort out.
I wrote some of the blog it was so peaceful everyone was sleeping.
It was so hot no one wanted to go out so I popped into town to get some blinds for the house ready for when Dave comes down so he can fit them.
I got home to wait for the guy supposed to be coming to look at the floor in the utility room.
I let all the dogs out for a run and then swapped the dogs out in the field.
I did a few bits out in the house ready for the builders coming in tomorrow.
All the evening feeds were done and then I fed Shone and her group and then locked up the dogs at the top kennel.
I brought Shone’s group up for the night.
Tuesday
All the dogs done and gates opened for the builders all coming back to work.
A mating booked in for early morning so it is not too hot.
A customer arriving straight after the mating.
I popped out for meat and bones.
Everyone been and gone by 10.30 and dogs back out on the drive and the fields.
I cleaned the bottom block and got the washing done.
Paper work for an hour and then lunch time feeds all done.
I spent most of the afternoon out with each group and took pictures of all of the little dogs.
I cleaned ears on a number of labradoodles.
All the floors washed in the office and then in the kitchen.
I swapped all the dogs around and then went up to see Nath and Laura.
We had dinner and then came home and did all the dogs and brought Shone’s group up for the night.
Wednesday
Everyone done and pens washed.
A customer arrived to pick up their puppy.
I had a mating with one of the doodle girls and then the puppies all went out for another run before a customer arrived to look at the different breeds for a future puppy.
After they left I did the lunch time feeds and then went out weeding for an hour.
I popped into the house to sort some stuff out with the builders and then Mark came to look at the utility floor.
I then had time to go and play with Shone’s group.
I had an ear cleaning session while the dogs were out and then a couple of pups out for pictures as the first lot I did some where not great.
Coosa had a brush and then I got the evening feeds ready and brought Shone’s group up to eat, I have to remember now to clip both gates on the front pen as Shone has showed Voodoo how to open all the gates.
Thursday
I woke up with a headache so a little slow first thing but then I was fine just tired.
Everyone done and the builders in and Hannah here grooming.
All the top dogs done and out.
I quickly went to town to the post office and then doughnuts for the guys.
When I got home I swapped over dogs and sorted out the washing.
A quick chat with the builders and then lunch time feeding.
The puppies all had a run in the drive and then in for food.
Rupert had his ears done as they were quite sore today, so he spent a couple of hours sat on my chair in the office until he was happy enough not to scratch at them and make them sore again.
I had two people booked in to see puppies and an older poodle toady so gates open and pups playing in the front pen.
Hannah was getting through the bathing as we have now got fewer dogs Hannah is finding it easier to keep up with the clipping and bathing now.
I had a couple of visitors to view puppies and another couple of people came to view Peaches with their dog it was a total disaster.
Peaches really didn’t like the dog and made very clear she did not want to go so she is still here.
Before they left Anna came around for a few hours and we went for a walk around the woods, the dogs were great apart from Narla who shoulder dropped into sheep poo.
We got home and had coffee and then I got all of my dogs finished and fed and put to bed.
Friday
All the dogs done and top kennels cleaned.
I had two lots of customers booked in for the morning.
It was not best morning as I was trying to deal with issues with the builders consequently I now don’t have painter!
Anyway I popped into town to pick up meat and cement.
Home and lunch time feeds done

The afternoon was catching up on cleaning so I was ready for the wedding on Saturday.
Vicci arrived mid-afternoon with Buck so Shone’s group went out again in the field for a couple of hours.
We scrubbed and hosed the bottom block and fed Fern.
All dogs were fed and we finished around 8.30.
Saturday
Very busy morning with cleaning until nearly 11 o clock, all the dogs had a really good run before the rain we moved dogs from 5 kennels and changed their kennels and then put them back into different kennels ready for bitches whelping.
We had two people view dogs one an older dog and the other family came to view puppies.
We fed everyone and then left for Kirsty’s wedding.
We had a great afternoon at the wedding and then came home to let all the dogs out again and feed the puppies.
After everyone was done and the wolf dogs fed we went back to the wedding reception.

28th August

Saturday, August 27th, 2016

Saturday evening all the dogs were stressed and very unsettled we had high winds and heavy rain, when that finally subsided we then had the fire work display to beat all displays we have had in this area the dogs were barking and howling and scratching the doors and this was just the kennel dogs, god knows what the outside dogs were thinking.
It seemed to go on for ever.
Finally it finished and I settled everyone in the kennel and then went to check the outside packs, Coosa’s group were all hiding in the back of the pen, they were certainly pleased to see me.
Now gone 12 it was time to try and get some sleep.
Sunday morning was a nice dry start so everyone out, fed and cleaned and then the top groups done.
I hosed the outside yards and then opened the gates for two customers viewing dogs.
I thought I would get the visitors over with early so I could lock up and then I would have the day with the dogs.
I fed the puppies and then just started to feed the rest of the dogs and the rain started so I fed the one’s I could in the hall way and waited for the rain to stop before feeding the rest.
I decided to take an hour to myself and go down to the house for a chill out for an hour as the dogs were all locked in due to heavy rain.
When the rain eased up I left everyone out again for a good run before bed time.
Evening feeds done and then the morning feeds all ready.
I brought Shone’s group up and fed them all.
Monday
A dry morning which was nice as there was plenty of rain in the night.
Everyone fed and cleaned in the kennel all been out for a good run.
I did the top groups and washed Coosa’s pen.
I had a chat with the builders and then popped into town to pick up doughnuts for them for morning tea break.
David and his partner came to spend some time with Cracker as he would like to re home her in the future when she is ready to accept being with them.
I had a customer arrive to pick up their labradoodle, they were quite late due to heavy traffic but not a problem as they rang and told me so I didn’t have to open the gates.
Lunch time feeds done and then I popped back down to the house for quarter of an hour.
Another customer rang to view pups late afternoon so I got everyone out again for a long run and all the puppies went out in the drive for a play.
I went to see Shone’s group and see how Fern is getting along, if I sit in the pen with them then she will come up and sniff me.
I sorted out some paper work and then my last customer arrived.
After they left with a Snoodle puppy I locked up the gates and let the dogs back out on the drive.
Everyone was out until just before 9 pm when it started to get dark.
Shone’s group came up to the kennel for food.
Tuesday
An early start as it was really warm and I wanted to get my dogs finished early as I needed to get a mating with Chili before it got too hot.
Everyone done and the top group and then a mating with Chili.
I had a lady come for a mating with her girl to Razzle but she wasn’t ready so we are leaving her for a couple more days.
I popped in for coffee with the builders and got a few bits sorted out.
Another call to arrange a bricklayer and then the lunch time feeds done.
I cleared the rubbish from the house and did a fire.
I made time to take pictures of all the puppies this takes a while as they want to jump all over me
Then I got a couple of pics of Voodoo and Fern.
Everyone had a good run out for the afternoon and then I let Kiro and Reo out early as I went off to see Nath, Sophie and Laura, a quick stop to buy some baby clothes for Sophie.
I had a time for a good play with Soph and then we had dinner and I came home and fed the puppies and got all the dogs done.
Shone’s group came up and had food before bed time.
Wednesday
Everyone done and finished early as I was possibly going to have the bitch back in today to try another mating.
I did the top group and opened the gates.
Hannah arrived to clip the dogs.
The lady rang to say the bitch still isn’t ready so I locked up the gates and spent time outside with the puppies.
I took the camera out with me and got a couple of pictures.
I got the paper work sorted out for the puppy that I was going to deliver later today.
Lunch time feeds all done for the puppies and adults.
I held Kola while Hannah cut his nails and then I got the feeds ready for the puppies for the evening so I could go off with the puppy to her new home.
Evening feeds ready for my lot when I get home.
I went off to Cornwall to deliver the pup.
It was a good drive down, the puppy was really good.
I stayed for a short time to introduce her to the lady’s old yorkie and then started heading home.
I stopped off to see friends for a coffee and then back to feed the rest of the dogs and lock everyone up for the night.
Shone’s group came up for food and then Voodoo decided he didn’t want to come in so I had to persuade him thankfully he did come in quite quickly as a few minutes later the heavens opened up and it hammered down for hours.
Thursday
A bit of a wet start but all the adult dogs got out without getting too wet.
I did the top kennel dogs and then back down to let the puppy out as it was now dry.
I went to town to pick up doughnuts and milk quickly.
I got home and got sorted out and swapped over dogs before customers were due to arrive.
After they left I did the lunch time feeds and cleaned ears on a group of little dogs.
I fed Voodoo’s group and then spent some time sat with them for a while.
I had a chat with the builders and then ordered some more paint for next week.
I washed all the kennel floors and hoovered in the office area.
I spent time out playing with the puppies and then with all the other groups.
Sarah and family came to pick up their puppy.
Evening feeds done and then everyone back out for a run before bed time.
Shone’s group fed and in as it was tipping down with rain.
Friday
Everyone finished early I wasn’t sure if I had Chris coming over to do a mating.
All the builders arrived.
I popped into town for milk, doughnuts and bones for the dogs.
I got back for my first customer to visit one of the older girls.
After they left I fed everyone and then Kirsty arrived for coffee, Anna arrived to spend a couple of hours with the dogs.
The afternoon was dogs out for a short time as it was too hot for them to be out for long.
Dave came with his partner to visit Cracker and walk her up the drive to get her used to him.
I popped into the house to see today’s progress and sorted out the washing.
I fed everyone and then tidied up.
Morning feeds were already on the side.
Shone’s group were fed early as I was waiting over an hour for a customer, it can be difficult for people to judge how long it will take to get here with holiday traffic.
Now the nights are drawing in by 8.15 I am not doing anymore evening viewings as it makes my life very difficult, also the wolf dogs don’t like evening visitors.
Everyone finished at 9.30 in the dark.
Saturday
An early start as a busy day ahead.
Everyone out, clean and fed.
Top groups done and pens washed.
I left dogs on the drive and popped to town quickly, I got home and swapped over dogs and then moved Winter to the Labrador pack as Jezz could come into season soon.
Lizzy popped in for a couple of hours and picked up her dogs, she bought me some lovely presents from Canada.
My sister came over to go out to lunch but we had to wait quite a while for a customer to arrive to pick up their poodle puppy as they had been in a lot of traffic from Leicester.
After they had gone with their puppy we went out for late lunch and then home to let everyone out again.
I had just got all the pups out and another customer arrived to see my last snoodle puppy and off he went to his new home.
I got the evening feeds done and then locked up in the house and had time to play with Shone’s group.
I caught up on some paper work but then got bored and went back out with the dogs.

Sunday
A nice quiet morning a couple booked in for 10 am.
All the dogs fed cleaned and exercised first thing and then the top pens washed and hybrids fed.
I came down and let the puppies out in the drive and the front pen.
My customers arrived they are really nice people they have left the puppy for a couple of weeks so they can get everything ready for him and get all the new things puppy owners need.
No lunch time chicken today everyone is having dried beef for a change.
This also gives me some extra time.
I went through my vaccine book to order the next batch of vaccinations.
Kirsty popped in and one of my customers to give me an update on her puppy and the older boy she has.
It was starting to get hot so I went down to the house and watered all of the lime render that went on Thursday.
I walked around checking each group and re filling water as it was really getting hot and no one really wanted to be out.
The pups all went out in the drive for a short time while all the bigger dogs were sleeping.
I got evening feeds ready and had some food.
Next was to take pictures of two of the labradoodle boys this was fun they love the camera but make it very hard to take a picture.
Everyone fed and then swapped over dogs in the field.
I did a few jobs in the kennel and then registered the microchips for then older girls that have been re homed.
Shone’s group up and fed and then the rest locked in for the night.
Monday
I did all the dogs and then opened the gates for the builders and did the top block.
I cleaned all the top kennels and then had a chat with the builders about the lime on the outside.
The lady came to pick up Puzzle it was sad to see her go but she will have a good home.
Another family arrived to view puppies this is her second visit with her husband.
After they left I had a couple friends arrived to see the hybrids, they already have one of mine.
Lunch time feeds done and then the dogs all went out in the field for a short run as it was really hot.
I had a really good time with playing with the puppies and then I power washed the front pen.
Evening feeds done and then I had another customer come and view her puppy.
I fed Shone’s group and then brought them up to the kennel, I left them in the drive with access to field three, so they were up there most of the night.
I got the morning feeds done and then I brought Shone’s group in.
Tuesday
Everyone was done and the gates opened for builders and then I did the top group and washed all top kennels.
I finished off all of the top kennels and then came down and had a quick chat with Steve.
I let the puppies out in the drive and then did the blog.
I got the lunch time feeds and then Kirsty came down for a coffee.
I had a customer arrive to see puppies.
Evening feeds done ready for later when I come home.
All the puppies went out in the pen for a short run and a play.
Everyone came in and then I left Narla and Siren out in the field and then I left the labs and the rest of the dogs out where I could in pens as it was hot.
I went up to see Nathan and Sophie I had some time to spend with Sophie and then we had dinner and I came home early to get the puppies fed and the rest of the dogs in.
Wednesday
A humid morning everyone went out for their run while I cleaned the kennels and then fed them all.
Gates opened for the builders and a delivery and then I did the top groups.
I quickly went into town to the bank and pick up bones.
I got home and Cliff and Sonya arrived with Cee cee and Koda, two hybrids I had bred both beautiful dogs and so well behaved, they stayed for a coffee and chat and then had a look around the house and met Shone’s pack, Voodoo was happy to meet new people even Fern came up for a sniff.
After they left I let everyone out again and fed them all their chicken and fed the puppies.
I had to do ears on a few of the little dogs and then order some stuff for the builders.
We had a little rain in the later part of the afternoon bit not too bad.
Someone came to look at one of my older girls but she wasn’t keen on them so that was a no.
I went to the vets and picked up vaccines and stopped in my sisters on the way home for a coffee.
I got home and fed the pups and then put all the wolf dogs away and fed Shone’s group.
Morning feeds done ready and bed time.
Thursday
Everyone done and the gates open, top groups all done and then off to town to get cement for the plasterer and then a quick in and out of Sainsbury’s for their doughnuts.
I got back and the house was full we had the plumbers and electrician, painter carpenter and plasterer with his labourer; they were all cracking on with their jobs.
I fed them and made tea.
I had a customer come for another viewing of puppies; they bought the pup and then popped off to pick up some new bits for their new addition.
I fed everyone and then they came back and picked up their puppy.
Another quick clean on the pups and then swapped over dogs and cleaned a few dogs’ ears.
I got the evening feeds ready as it kept threatening to rain so I got Shone’s group fed earlier than normal.
I left the hybrids with the gate open to the field for the night and locked everyone up.
I just managed to get Shone’s group up and a quick wee before the heavens opened up.
Friday
A very wet start but everyone got out and fed and cleaned.
I opened the gates and then did the top groups.
I came back down and Hannah had started grooming and the builders were all here.
I cleaned the yard by the house and then I could barely breathe so I relented and rang the doctors for an appointment to get my ribs checked.
The family came to view Cola and fell in love with her so she has now gone to her new home in south Devon.
I got the lunch time feeds ready and left them in the fridge and went off to town to see the doctor.
Today i finally relented and went to the doctors after 9 days of agony and that was just breathing.
He checked my ribs and said yes they are all cracked at the top of your chest and the chest cavity wall is damaged, his question was how did you do this?
I explained my puppy jumps on me in the night when he wants to go out for a wee! The doctor said what sort of puppy is it, I told him he was an American wolf dog he said he must have feet like a horse to have done that much damage, I am now wondering if I was Voodoo’d or Shone’d I am heading towards it was more like Shone as she jumped on the bed last night and felt like a ton weight landing on me.
Anyway the upshot is 6 weeks min before any improvement so I took the anti-inflammatory tablets but gave the pain killers a miss.
I got home and fed everyone and then took the doughnuts down to the builders and then had some food to get these pills down.
I got home and fed everyone and then a chap came out to meet cracker and spend some time with her, he is going to come back every week to see her before she may leave in 6 weeks or so.
After he left I swapped over dogs and then my sister arrived, we had a look around my house as she hasn’t seen it for quite a while and then we popped up the road to see an auction property that she may be interested in as a development.
We got home and had another look around the house and then had a coffee I fed the pups and left another group of dogs out.
Everyone else was fed and then my sister left.
I got the rest of the dogs out for a run some did get wet and then the hybrids and labs fed and all locked up.
Shone’s group came up for food a run in the field and then bed.
Saturday
I woke up really early and it wasn’t raining which really shocked me as the forecast looked terrible for the day.
I got everyone out, fed and cleaned and then the puppies all went out in the drive.
I did the top groups and then cleaned Kiro’s pen.
I came back and swapped over dogs in the drive and then disinfected the bottom block and hosed it all.
I had a customer view pups and then a chat with Kola’s new owners, they were worried she hadn’t had a wee in 24 hours so we thought it best she spoke to the vet, no sooner had we finished talking and she rang back to say no problem we have just had Niagara falls on the lounge rug, bless her the lady didn’t mind at all.
I cut up the chicken and fed everyone and then had a constant stream of phone calls all afternoon, I decided to stay around the office and do paper work as the phone and emails were not stopping today.
I microchipped and wormed a litter of pups and spent the day around the kennel.
I had another family view pups but they are not too sure if they want a pup or an adult dog.
We had a couple of short power cuts late Afternoon so I went down and hosed Kiro’s yard in the tipping down with rain.
Another customer arrived with the family to pick up their puppies and they wanted a quick look at the wolfdogs.
After they had gone the farmer arrived to pick up the digger bucket to empty it.
I locked everyone in at about 7.30 and had an early finish so I brought Shone’s group up to the kennel with me.
