14th August

August 20th, 2016

Sunday
I woke up feeling rather worse for wear so Kate helped Vicci for a while with the puppies, and then Kate left and Vicci did the dogs for me
I finally manged to get myself motivated at 4 pm and then did the evening feeding and made up the feeds for the morning.
All the dogs were in and finished by 8.30 as I needed to go back to sleep.
Monday
I got up not feeling the liveliest but anyway all the dogs done and then the builders arrived.
I finished off the dogs at the top kennel and then swapped over dogs on the drive.
I had phone calls and emails to catch up with and then I stripped the beds in the house and got the washing sorted.
Lunch time feeds done and vet beds changed.
I spent the afternoon just catching up and spending time with the dogs.
I had an easy day and then got a phone call to say the lady that has Oli is not coping as her other male is getting aggressive towards Oli so he is coming home tonight.
I did the evening feeds and then Oli arrived home.
Kate has found Oli a good home.
Evening feeds done early and then Shone’s group came up to the kennel.
They were really good they just settled down for the night.
Tuesday
A good morning everyone done and the top group finished and the pens all cleaned.
I had a lady come and pick up her puppy; she went home with him and is over the moon with him.
I had a quick chat with the builders and then sorted out the washing.
Lunch time feeds done and then dogs swapped around.
I washed the kennel floors and left the doors open to dry the floors quickly.
All the feed bins topped up and the disinfectants all replaced in the kennels.
I had a chat with the painter and he is coming tonight to start on the windows downstairs in the house.
I spent some time with Shone’s group and had a play with Voodoo.
Lots of time making phone calls and emails.
Puppies needed play time out in the yard so we had a riot playing with them.
Hannah’s grooming list is done for this week and a list of puppies that need pictures to be taken.
I did the evening feeds and then brought Shone’s group in for the night.
Wednesday
All the dogs done and the outside pens washed.
All the builders were in.
I popped into the butchers to pick up meat.
When I got home Kate arrived to take Oli to his new home.
I did the lunch time feeds and then the painter arrived for the afternoon.
I got the evening feeds ready as I was going to be leaving early and getting back to feed slightly later than normal.
I spent time with the puppies and then did a little tiding up at the house.
We had some rain on and off so I let Narla and Siren out for a good run as I didn’t want to leave then out while I was away for a couple of hours.
I had an email from Dusan’s new owner to say he is doing ok in the US.
It has been a sad week for Wolfzone we have suffered a terrible loss of a hybrid youngster it was a freak accident and our owners are totally devastated.
I locked up and then went off to see Nathan and Sophie we had a good night and then I came home and did my dogs and then off to bed.
Thursday

I did all the kennel dogs and opened the gates for the builders.
Hannah arrived to groom she had a big list including puppies to clip.
Next I went up the top kennel and cleaned and fed everyone.
I did the fire and then went to have a chat with the builders.
I had to pop into town and get meat and a few bits.
I got home and swapped over dogs and then my friend arrived for a couple of hours to see the dogs.
All the puppies went out into the drive and the front pen for a good run around.
Lunch time feeds done and then I had more cleaning to get done in the kennel and hoovering.
I got the evening feeds ready and did another clean out on the puppies.
I spent time back in the tiding up and then came back up and fed the pups.
Bobby popped down with his partner to have a look at the pups, we had a coffee and then I had a friend pop in for the evening.
I fed all the hybrids and then brought Shone’s group up and fed them.
Morning feeds done and then off to bed.
Voodoo jumped on me in the middle of the night and thought he was going to lay on my chest as he didn’t want to get off I dropped a bottle of water on the floor to distract him.
Friday
I woke up with one hell of a pain in my chest, I felt my ribs and nearly fell off the bed, I was finding it hard to breathe.
The dogs all done and the puppies had a run and then the gates opened for the builders.
I went up to the top and did all dogs and then came down and disinfected the bottom block and power washed it all.
Nathan and Tommy arrived to get the electrics to the under floor heating done before the plumber comes back next week.
I popped in a couple of times to see how they were getting on.
Lunch time feeds done and then the poodle puppies out for a run in the front pen.
I had a few calls with prospective puppy owners and for our Czechoslovakian wolf dog litter due this winter.
We have a lot of interest in the litters due for the wolf dogs and hybrids this year
I swapped over dogs and then went to the house to start trying to clean off some of the lime from the render on a couple of windows so when the painter arrives he can at least see out of the windows.
This was a job I was not too keen on but we didn’t have a labourer today so it became my job.
Lifting anything or walking up to the top kennel was difficult as my ribs were really playing up and I was short of breath.
I picked up in the drive and Nathan left and then a Royal canin delivery, I was pleased when that was done as my ribs were really giving me hell today.
I went out for a play with the next group of puppies.
I got the evening feeds done and then put Narla back out for a couple of hours.
Bobby arrived to do some more restoration on the windows in the downstairs.
I had a lady rang me she had a deposit down with another breeder but was very unhappy at how she was treated by the breeder so she asked if she could come up late evening to see the puppies.
I put all the top groups away just before 8.30 and then fed Shone’s group.
Bobby had just left so the gates where open for the visitors.
They arrived just after 8.30 and left at 10pm.
A very nice family they have left their puppy for another couple of weeks before they pick him up.
After they left I brought Shone’s group up and did the morning feeds.
Saturday
I managed to get most groups out before we had rain.
I was finding today even harder to breathe so it seemed like a good time to go out.
After everyone was finished the rain was quite heavy so I went into town to buy some more things for the house.
When I got home I got the lunch time feeds ready and let three groups of dogs out while I was putting the shopping away.
I fed everyone and then went to see Coosa’s group, I decided to sit outside the field and talk to them as he thought of Matzi jumping up would have been more than I could have coped with.
All the pups went out in their groups to the front pen and the drive.
I had a chat with a few people about dogs and then unloaded my van and took everything to the house.
Washing nearly all sorted out and then frozen feeds all trayed up in the freezer for the morning.
I did the evening feeds and Shone’s group and then had dinner.
My next task was to pick up in the drive which I find the most painful at the moment.
I locked everyone in at 9.pm and brought Shone’s group to the kennel.

7th August

August 8th, 2016

Sunday morning was nice and quiet no body was booked in to see puppies.
I finished the kennel dogs and then did the top groups.
I washed Coosa’s day pen.
Narla and Siren were out in the field and the rest of the wolf dogs in yards or pens.
The labs were out in their pen and then the poodle group on the drive.
I cut up the chicken and left it In the fridge.
I popped over to my sisters as my niece was having a party for her eldest boy, I helped out for a bit and then came home and swapped dogs around and fed everyone.
After all the feeding was done I power washed Kiro’s yard and then down the side of the house.
I had a lot of tiding up to do in the house so in-between each group going out I went back in to sort out bags of clothes and bedding, towels and stuff.
I did the evening feeds and then carried on in the house until nearly 10pm when I locked everyone in.
Monday
Everyone out thankfully all done by 7.30 am.
I opened the gates and the builders arrived, Steve was rendering at the front of the house.
We have so many builders here its going to be a full on week.
Other than sorting out dogs and ear cleaning I also had more shopping to get as there were things I was short of for the weekend.
Lunch time feeds done and then dogs back in as quick as possible due to heavy rain
The afternoon was so wet none of the dogs went out until 6 pm when I was still raining but they needed to get out for a toilet stop.
Tuesday
Everyone done cleaned and finished by 8.30 and then I hoovered everywhere in the kennel.
Rosie’s new owner arrived and off she went to her new home.
Lunch time feeds done, all the dogs were fed in the hall way and then out for a quick wee as they didn’t want to be out in the rain.
I got dogs out where possible and then got the evening feeds done and spent time with the dogs.
I had a puppy viewer and then off to Nathan’s for dinner.
I got home and fed the dogs and brought up shone’s group.
Wednesday
A drier day all the dogs finished and then off to the shops to pick up more food and things for the weekend.
A house full of builders again.
Lunch time feeds done.
I got home and fed everyone and then two deliveries arrived.
My friend Lizzy arrived with her dogs for the afternoon; she has one of my oldies so she has left him with me while she has gone to Canada for nearly a month.
Lizzy and I spent time with Coosa’s pack and then with Shone’s pack.
Shone and Cito had a brush and then I washed down yards.
I got the evening feeds done and then moved more stuff into the house.
All the dogs were out until 9.15 and then Shone’s group came up to the kennel.
Thursday.
Apart from the normal day and one customer to view puppies.
Kate popped in with a card flowers and presents, she also brought a bacon sandwich with her as it was my birthday so I went out for lunch with my sisters and then carried on as normal when I got back home.
Kirsty popped in with a friend who is a painter to have a look around the house to see what needs to be finished.
I was swapping over groups of dogs and sorting out things in the house.
I didn’t finish until just after 10pm.
Friday
A busy morning dogs all finished and then the fire down.
I was still moving things into the house.
Nathan went shopping for me on his way back from a job.
Nath spent the whole afternoon hoovering, cleaning bathrooms and making up beds for me; I would never have managed to get it all done for people visiting.
Nath then helped me with cooking some of the food for the party and cutting meat.
Alan was still fitting kitchen doors and handles.
After they had left I stopped and fed the puppies and cooked some more food.
I cleaned the puppies out again and let the dogs out in the field.
This week has felt like it was never going to end.
Jacqui and Sharon were on route from Nottingham but running late as the traffic was bad.
Vicci was on her way up and I am still washing up all of the kitchen stuff that has been packed away for the last 10 months.
All the dogs were done I was just letting out dogs and going back and forth to the house.
When Jaq and Sharon arrived we had dinner and then put the dogs to bed and had a drink.
Saturday
We did all the dogs and then washed pens.
Next was to start preparing food for the party.
We did the lunch time feeds and then went back to the house and carried on with food for the party.
All the dogs were run out in the fields until Rach and everyone arrived from Leicester.
My dogs had their own fields and a field was left free for all the dogs that came down with Rach’s groups.
Everyone was great not much more noise than normal.
Evening feeds done and then we all got showered and changed and moved all the rest of the food, drinks and everything up to the party.

31st July

July 31st, 2016

Saturday
A nice late 7 am start for Vicci and I we did all of the kennel dogs and then the carpenter arrived to fit the spindles on the staircase.
We went up and did the top groups and washed outside pens.
Next Wendy and Brian arrived to help move beds from the container to the house, as we couldn’t get up the stairs we loaded everything into the dog’s room in the house.
We had another monumental fire and said goodbye to the old oak front door and the stair case.
A customer arrived to view puppies, they have bought a pup and are picking him up next week.
We did the lunch time feeds and then went out for a late lunch and all had full English and came home stuffed.
We swapped around dogs and then cleaned all the outside pens and then did the evening feeds.
I cut up all the chicken for Vicci to feed the next day when I was going to be out.
I got the morning feeds ready and then we had a tidy up in the kennel.
Dogs were out until just after 10pm.
We were totally shattered after a 16 hour day and knowing we had a really start.
Sunday
An early start as it was going to be three of us but only ended up being Vicci and myself doing the dogs.
All the dogs were cleaned and fed, everything was done ready for Vicci for the day.
I left with Winter and then met Wendy on the way up I arrived at the café to meet with Wendy and Brian and breakfast was already ordered which was very nice.
We went up and had the hips and elbows done Marilyn was very happy with the x rays so fingers crossed for a good result.
We came back and met Brian and then had burger and chips before heading home.
When I got home Vicci had everything running smoothly which was great she had not had the best of days with the rain, we were lucky we had a dry drive up and back.
We fed the rest of the dogs and cleaned up the pens.
Everyone was in by 9 pm.
Monday
Not quite such an early start which was good.
All the dogs’ done and outside pens cleaned.
We had a full team of builders and three electricians in so a busy day all-round.
Vicci stayed and helped for the day.
We had 4 people booked in to view dogs the first one emailed 15 minutes before she was due to arrive and said the price was too high.
The next people turned up to view hybrids after a couple of hours decided they would have a Czech wolf dog first time round.
We did the lunch time feeds and then the next person didn’t bother to ring or turn up.
We swapped dogs around and then popped into the house to see how the builders were getting on.
All is coming along well with the house.
My next visitors arrived and picked their puppy.
After they left we sat down for half an hour and then back to work, Vicci was keeping a check on Chianti and pups, as the little bitch was still being held on mum to feed.
I sorted out emails and phone calls.
Vicci left and I did the evening feeding and then started to wash the yard and the pens.
All the dogs were in by 8.30 as it was quite wet now.
Tuesday
Up at 5.45 all the dogs fed exercised and cleaned out by 8.45.
I saw the builders and then popped into town to get some more food for the party in a couple of weeks’ time.
On the way home I went to the butchers and picked up meat.
I let dogs out and sorted out the shopping and then cut up the chicken and fed everyone and the puppies.
A quick clean out on the pups and then time to play with Shone’s group.
We had a bit of rain but not too much so the dogs were all happy.
The afternoon was spent with the puppies and kennel dogs and sorting out the next years breeding program.
I made up the evening feeds and then got everything ready to take up to Nathan’s tonight as I am going up for dinner to see Sophie.
The afternoon was split between letting out dogs doing feeds and spending time with the puppies.
I did the evening feeds and then left.
I got home and fed Shone’s group and locked everyone in for the night and then brought Shone’s group up to the kennel.
Wednesday
An early start which was lucky I managed to miss the rain that started at around 7.45 am.
Everyone finished and then time to get out some things on the internet for the house.
I was over the moon when I checked my emails to find the tests had come back for Voodoo he is DM and DW clear so just hip scoring next year and I am hoping for a great stud dog.
All the builders arrived and then the electricians arrived.
Everything is coming along well today
I had visitors arrive to look at the snoodle pups.
After they left I did the lunch time feeds and then we had a spell of rain but not for too long.
All the dogs went out again and then I did a mating with Winter and Autumn.
This is his first mating after his hip scoring at the weekend, he was very good no messing around just got straight on with the job.
All the dogs had a good time out and it wasn’t too muggy for them.
I caught up on some paper work and then got the evening feeds done.
I cleaned the yards and bottom block.
Shone’s group came up and I locked up the top group.
I fed the pups had dinner and fell asleep.
I woke up Thursday morning with my coat and shoes on my head thanks to Voodoo, as I turned over he pounced on me for the usual morning cuddles and bite on the arm.
Everyone out fed and cleaned all finished at the bottom kennel and then the top dogs finished by 9 am, it was a relief to know they had all had a good run as the forecast was not so good for today.
I let Autumn out with Winter for a second mating while the rest of her group were in the field.
After the mating I washed up and then had breakfast.
I did the paper work for the puppies leaving and had a cuddle with the pups while waiting for customers to arrive.
Finally my customers arrived and then went off to have a think so I did the lunch time feeds.
I got a call to say 30 mins and then an hour past and I got another call to say they wanted to come back later in the afternoon.
People have no conception to how difficult it can be to accommodate them.
I locked the gates yet again and let the dogs out.
While the group were out I stopped for lunch as I had a hair dressing appointment early evening and wouldn’t get chance to eat.
I spent the afternoon letting dogs out, ear cleaning and another mating with Winter and Autumn.
Evening feeds done and then off to the hairdressers.
I got home and fed Shone’s group and put everyone else away.
Frozen feeds done ready for the wolf dogs for the morning and biscuit feeds done for the kennel dogs.
I finished about 9.30 as it was raining.
Friday
It was a bit of a damp start but not wet, I finished everyone by 8.45 but it really was raining by this time.
I had a chat with the builders and then popped into town to pick up milk and doughnuts.
I picked up a freezer full of bones for the wolf dogs.
Did the final mating with Winter and Autumn.
I had to get a few pictures of puppies and then do the lunch time feeds.
It had dried up quite nicely so everyone went out for a good run.
There were a few things to go through in the house and then I put the beds in the rooms that had just been finished and carpeted yesterday.
I had untold bags to take upstairs and unpack to try and find bedding, pillows and duvets.
I got fairly sorted out and then it started to rain so I had to shut everyone in and feed Shone’s group and then bring them up to the kennel with me.
Saturday
Instead of waking up to my shoes and coat on my head
Everyone out and done and Coosa’s pen power washed.
I had a local couple arrive to pick up their puppy.
I did some weeding going up the steps as I was constantly being attacked by over grown plants.
Next was another couple viewing puppies.
After they left my screeding guys arrived.
I fed the puppies and did the lunch time feeds for everyone else.
I started to power wash the steps down to the house and then stopped half way through and swapped over dogs and let the screed guys out.
The dogs were happy to get back out on the drive for a run around.
I spent time with the puppies and then had visitors to see labradoodles they were here for quite a while.
After they left I shut the gate sand let the dogs back out again.
I finished power washing the steps and then swapped over dogs.
I did the evening feeds and then another customer arrived to see puppies.
Next was to power wash Shone’s yard then the next flight of steps.
I let the last groups of dogs out and fed the bottom hybrid pack.
I quick clean out for the pups and Shone’s group up with me for the night.

24th July

July 23rd, 2016

Sunday
An early start to get everyone finished so Dave could get off home and I could take Oli the yorkie to visit the couple that may like to give him a home for life.
We finished everyone and I picked up in the drive and left with Oli to go to Torrington.
Dave loaded up his car and locked up.
I spent an hour with Oli’s new family they have two young yorkie girls and a chalkie boy.
They all got on well so I left Oli and said any problems ring me and I will come and get him.
I got home and both of today’s customers had cancelled so I put together the box for Chianti and then fed everyone.
My next job was to brush Shone’s group, all were really good until I got to Fern it took longer to catch her and calm her down than it did to brush her, you can hold her collar and she will stay still, long enough to brush her, but you can’t put a lead on her or she goes wild.
After brushing them all I disinfected the bottom block and then hosed everything.
I filled up the bath for Shone’s group to have a play in and Voodoo was the first one to jump in.
I came back up to the kennel and let the puppies out for a play in the yard and tried to take some pictures of them.
After I had finished playing with the pups I put them away and fed them, I then fed everyone else.
I went down to check on Shone’s group and poor Fern had a hole in the top of her head and all the side of her face was swollen it looks like there has been an altercation with probably Shone and a sting, not a good day for Fern so she is on antibiotics.
I had a chat with Vicci and then washed the kennel floors.
I went up and spent some time with Coosa’s group they were all laying down inside as it was 27 degrees outside.
Evening feeds done and everyone in by 9 pm early night needed.
Monday
All the dogs finished by 8 am and then I spent an hour with the builders we had to do a quick redesign on the main kitchen before it was set out to be fitted.
I sorted out a few phone calls and then popped into town for milk and doughnuts for the builders.
I got home and did the lunch time feeds and then it was too hot for anyone to go out so I cleaned ears and checked on the girls stitches.
I had a customer who was down on holiday so they popped in and bought a puppy and then off home for them.
I had a lot of things to sort out for the house and a few last minute bits for my birthday party next month.
I did the evening feeds and then Chris and his family arrived from Belgium to meet Tango.
After they had left I let everyone out for a quick run but it was still very hot so when they were all back in I pinned open the kennel doors to get a good air flow.
I had dinner and then brought Shone’s group up to the kennel for the night.
Tuesday
I started very early as the weather was going to be ridiculously hot again so everyone was finished by 8 am.
I went down to the house and spent an hour mist spraying the lime render as it was so hot I could see it was likely to crack.
The phone was nonstop so I was grateful it was exceptionally hot and the dogs didn’t want to be out.
I left Narla and Siren out with the field gate open so they could get down into the track in the shade.
I was not happy some nasty muppet had hacked the wolfzone web site so I rang my web providers and they got onto it instantly very impressed with vibrant pulse they had the site back up and running very quickly.
Kate arrived and we took the stitches out of three of the girls that were spayed and then vaccinated Tango.
We fed the puppies and then we went out and met my sister for lunch and then popped into Sainsbury’s on the way home and got milk and doughnuts for the builders and then a quick trip around to Kirsty’s house to check up on one of her little puppies.
We picked up bones and then home.
We got home and Kate had to leave.
I sorted out the chicken delivery that had just arrived and then a Royal canin delivery arrived thankfully the lorry driver was great he helped me unload the pallet.
I started the lunch time feeding very late as it was still hot, the temperatures actually reached 32 here, it was unbearable.
After everyone was fed I went and had a chat with the guy building my new kennel in the house, he was cracking on nicely so it is going to be all ready for when I move out of the kennel and back into the house next month with my house pack and a spare kennel for any bitches due or disasters.
I also have a very nice alcove in my utility room which is perfect for my high security crate for any other problems and a dog needing to come into the house.
The carpet delivery arrived ready for the fitter next week.
At 6 pm it really cooled down so I let everyone back out for a good run in the field while I caught up with everything.
Wednesday
An early start all finished by 8.15 and then I had to sort out things with the builders and do some more phone orders.
I had a chat with Nicola as we had things we have had to sort out.
My next job was to have a chat with Gavin.

As the weather was unsure of what it is going to do I cut up all the chicken early.
Next was to get all my emails done.
The carpet fitter arrived at lunchtime to get the underlay and gripper down.
The plasterers were getting the second coat on the lime out of the front of the house.
Chris was doing the lime pointing out at the back of the house.
I did the lunch time feeding and cleaned out the puppies again.
Then in the afternoon I had a family come over and purchase one of my cockapoo girls, she is off locally so another customer going to my own vets.
Next was to get the evening feeds ready as Tango’s new owners were coming over to take her out for a walk to get her smell in the cage in their car and to help her to get familiar with them without me around.
I took them up and showed them where the park was and then I came home and fed everyone.
All the dogs stayed out until nearly 10 pm and I hosed all the yards before bed.
Thursday
A terrible night’s sleep one of those bloody international numbers called me at 3.45 am, I jumped out of bed thinking omg something is wrong, I was furious and couldn’t even vent my anger at the person on the end of the phone as there was no one there.
Voodoo then decided it was time to get up so I let them out for a while and then they came back in and Voodoo was on one Cito and Shone wanted to sleep as did I but no, Voodoo was playing on my bed a giving me teeth kisses, just what you need at 4.30 am.
By 5.30 I couldn’t stand anymore Voodooisum so I got up and got all the dogs done.
The builders, Hannah and the carpenter fitting the staircase all arrived at 8 am.
Tango’s new family arrived to take her home to Belgium it was very sad to see her leave and knowing it will be a difficult transition for her makes it even more upsetting, I am positive given time she will settle and have a very nice life as they are very good people and will give her the best care possible.
We went through the day’s work list and then I popped out to get some oil for the stairs.
I got home with a nice freshly made cake for the builders and then got all the dogs out for a good run before we had rain.
I cut up the chicken and fed everyone and then swapped over dogs outside, Hannah was clipping a group today so we worked feeding around them.
I was up and down to the house as things change constantly, we needed a kitchen base unit changed and then later in the day the fridge freezer was unwrapped and very dented so another phone call.
I picked up in the bottom block and had a few minutes with Shone’s group.
The puppies needed another clean out and then all the water buckets changed again.
I got the evening feeds done and then made up the morning feeds.
Puppies fed and then I cleaned the bottom block, I put all of the top group away and brought Shone’s group up to the kennel.
Chianti had been fidgety for a couple of nights but seemed more settled when I was in the office with her.
I had dinner and fed Shone’s group and then was about to think about going to bed when Chianti was really unsettled so I sat in the office with her.
She had her first puppy at around 11.50 a big red boy.
I didn’t want to leave her alone for a minute as last year we didn’t have the best whelping and lost a pup.
Finally finished and then a clean vet bed for Chianti and pups and an hours sleep for me before getting up to do the rest of the dogs.
Friday
My hours sleep went out of the window as Voodoo decided that it doesn’t matter if you have been up all night its 5.50 and you need to be up so there are your shoes on your head and chomping on my arm now you will get up.
I felt like a zombie but I gave in and got up I put the three wolf dogs out and made a very strong black coffee and started feeding.
I was defiantly slower but everyone was done and sorted.
Pups and mum all doing well, both girls are a little small but still feeding ok.
I did have to give the radio a quick blasting as the dogs were getting to noisy and my head was hurting.
I finished the bottom kennel dogs and then up to do the rest at the top kennel oh joy and fun they were bloody filthy so I power washed all the kennels and Coosa’s pen.
I had just finished when a customer arrived to see the cockapoo puppies.
After they left Alan and I went to pick up my last lot of carpet at my sisters barn.
I got back and fed everyone and then answered my emails and phone calls.
I was spending as much time with Chianti and the pups as possible as the two girls need to gain weight to be able to hold their own with the boys.
I was quite happy not to have too much to do outside as I was really tired.
The day was busy enough with swapping over dogs feeding and sorting out stuff for the house.
I hoovered the upstairs where it had been carpeted.
Vicci arrived and we had coffee and cake and then fed the dogs and brought Shone’s group in and fed them.
We had a late night.
As we have been flat out today Saturday’s blog will be on next weeks.

17th July

July 19th, 2016

Sunday was a really good day all the dogs done early and then a customer came to pick up their puppy.
Next was to finish off cleaning the top kennel.
I then cleaned out Ferns pen and the bottom block.
My next job was to take the old bones out from Coosa’s field and pull out some of the nettles.
I did the lunch time feeds and then pulled weeds out of the drive, I had Dolly with me.
Dave arrived mid-afternoon and we had a coffee and then burnt all the rubbish from the house.
Then we started pulling rag wort from field three before the farmer can come in and top the field.
We cleaned the labs pen and then Dave picked up in the drive and then we moved the cars out so the dogs could go back out on the drive.
We moved the dogs into different kennels and then did another clean out.
Dave weeded all along the bottom pen and then along the side of the kennel.
We did the evening feeds and then brought everyone in at about 9 pm.
This gave me some extra time with Shone’s group in the evening.

Monday
All the dogs done and then the builders arrived.
We had a quick chat about the day’s work and then I popped into town.
I cut up the chicken and then we did some more weeding.
I had people come and view their puppy and then I had some time to get out and power wash as the paths are getting very green.
I had a chat with Rach as Dusan was going to the airport in the early hours ready for his flight to America and we needed to finalise the arrangements.
Dale came over and picked up his poodle puppy, he will be with another of my poodles a little black boy called Ozzie.
I fed everyone and then out to do some more outside cleaning.
Next was to clean ears on a couple of the bitches.
Evening feeds done and then we had to go to my sister’s shop to pick up all of my new kitchen that has been stored there for the last six months, we stopped for dinner and then all met up at the shop and loaded everything up, we got home and unloaded and then I finished off the dogs by this time it was well past 10pm.
Tuesday
Not quite such an early start as I was totally shattered from an early morning and a late night.
Everyone was cleaned and fed and then the builders arrived and I went up to do the dogs at the top kennel.
This week has just been so busy with puppies leaving and people viewing the Czech wolf dogs and the little dogs.
All the bitches from last week that were spayed are all doing well.
Razzle has now moved in with them for the time being.
Dave has pulled ragwort from everywhere including the garden; he has also mended the garden fence.
We went up to see Nath, Sophie and Laura in the evening and then when we got home we still had feeding and moving dogs.
Wednesday
After all the dogs were finished I did a couple of hours power washing while Dave did some more repairs around the place.
Lunch time feeds done and then we stopped for food.
We have de weeded the whole drive and a couple of the flower beds.
The new kitchen has all been split up ready to be put in next week.
Edd has been cracking on with the lime painting and Steve is back plastering.
Matt has been here installing the new outside boiler.
Evening feeds done and back out for a couple more hours weeding up the top by the gates and Dave has done some poisoning.
Michael has been in and topped both of the end fields so we can now see the dogs when they are running around.
Everyone in at just after 10 pm.
Thursday
An early start as I need to go to vets with Razzle for another check-up, Peaches and Cola to be spayed.
When I arrived Gavin checked Raz and said he is ok but it will still take another four months before he has healed properly.
Gavin got called out on an emergency with a horse so I left the girls and then came home.
I did the lunch time feeds and then picked up the girls from the vets and got back just giving me time to sort the dogs out before another viewing for a possible Czech puppy this year.
Late afternoon we had rain so we quickly popped out to get some shopping.
Home and dogs back out and then evening feeds done.
Friday
Everyone finished by 9.30 ready for a customer arriving at 10 am.
After she left I power washed another yard and Dave helped out in the house with Alan.
Hannah was grooming so I gave her a hand when I could and made sure I was around when she did Rupert
Lunch time feeds done and then back out to do a couple of hours weeding and then I power washed the labs outside pen when they were in the field.
I had a long chat with a lady who has yorkies and made arrangements with her to take Oli for a visit at the weekend.
Lunch time feeds done.
Dave hoovered all through the high area in the kennel as it was getting quite dusty.
I sorted out next week’s plans for the house and then evening feeds done.
We went out and spent time with the dogs and then everyone in at just after 9.30.
Saturday
We finished the cleaning and feeding by 10 am and then another couple of hours power washing.
Dave took the whelping box apart as it was the smaller one for Chianti and it had been in the shed and got really dusty.
I have had Chianti in my office for the last week as Shiraz was not good when Shone’s group came in at night so they have swapped places and Dolly has finished being mated so she is in the bitch in season group.
I fed everyone and then went out with Dave pulling up docks and brambles.
Lunch time feeds done and then a customer arrived for the Schnoodle litter, they took their puppy and then time for lunch before the next person to pick up their puppy.
We were out until well after 10 pm finishing off getting the weeds out where we hadn’t finished the day before and the bottom yard and bottom block had to be washed.
Dogs in at 10.50

10th July

July 19th, 2016

Saturday evening I fell to sleep early and woke up to rain hammering on the window and Voodoo swinging one of my trainers around my head.
Sunday
A great start nice and dry, everyone out, cleaned and finished and then the top groups done and pens cleaned.
The first lot of washing in the machine.
I thought I had time for breakfast before the first customers arrived to pick up puppies but no croissants – were cold by the time I managed to eat them.
The morning was taken up with visitors.
I cut up the chicken and fed everyone.
Beverley rang to tell me Tease had settled in very well and was great with her dog but she was not eating very well so she is off to buy a chicken as Tease prefers chicken carcasses.
I now had an hour before people were coming to view wolfdogs so time for a quick sandwich.
I swapped over dogs to keep the noise to a minimum while people where here.
The two lads arrived and we saw Narla and Siren and then spent some time up with Coosas’s pack, before going down to see Shone’s group.
After a couple of hours it was decided that the Czech was going to be their first dog and then maybe after a year then a hybrid.
We have several people interested in the Enya and Cullen litter planned for the end of the year.
No more visitors for the day so gates locked and dogs moved around.
I got the evening feeds ready and then fed the puppies while the bitches were out.
I brought Shone’s group up at 9 pm and then sat down for a while and played with Voodoo.
Monday
A damp start but not too bad, everyone done in the kennels and then unlocked the gates ready for the painter coming in.
Next was to let the top groups out and fed them.
After they were all out I cleaned the pens and then did the fire.
I had to pop into the butchers and to the shop.
I got home and saw the builders, Nathan and Tommy were also there doing second fix upstairs.
I had a couple more customers picking up puppies today and then after they had left I locked up the gates so the dogs could go out on the drive for a while before their chicken carcasses were cut up.
Everyone fed and then the puppies cleaned out again.
I swept the kennel and then washed everyone’s bowls.
I needed to spend time out with Dolly and Chili to see if I could get a mating but nothing yet.
The week is getting very busy I have electrics being done and two painters in as well as the builders.
As always still running around getting materials.
Puppies have been leaving which takes up time.
We are already taking deposits on our winter Czech litter so people are viewing adults and a lot of phone calls.
I have had to move bitches out from their puppies as they are due to be spayed this week.
Vicci came up for the day with Buck, he was great with Voodoo which was really nice as he doesn’t have to be kept separated from my dogs.
Vicci and I moved loads of dogs from their kennels and cleaned all the kennels and moved each group up a place.
Lizzy came over in the afternoon for lunch, we had some time early evening to spend with Shone’s group and then with Coosa’s group, he goes mad when Lizzy is here he jumps all over her, this time he was so over excited that he ripped the back of Lizzy’s shirt, she found it quite funny.
After Vicci and Lizzy left I started the evening feeding.
I moved the labradoodles into a kennel with paper and vet beds as they were going to the vets today.
Dolly was mated with Chili.
I fed Shone’s group and then put them on the drive so I could clean their day pen.
A really busy morning all the dogs done and Hannah arrived she was grooming and looking after the dogs while I was at the vets.
I loaded up the dogs the 3 girls and Oli the yorkie into the van and then off to get them all done.
Everyone was very good no problems except for a little more bleeding than expected with Tango so we had to keep a close eye on her for the rest of the day as her gums were very pale.
I got home and got the chicken cut and fed everyone.
I have made more time to spend Czechs today to see if it is the breed they are looking for as their family pet later this year, Cito insisted on licking the little boys face but he didn’t mind.
After they left I cleaned ears on a couple of dogs.

Peaches and a poodle puppy needed to be bathed and clipped today so that was this afternoon’s job.
I went out in the drive and pulled up some weeds while the dogs were out with me.
Evening feeds done and morning feeds ready.
Shone’s group fed and up to the kennel for the night.

3rd July

July 19th, 2016

A very early start for a Sunday morning Tango decided she wanted to go out so the whole kennel was woken up by her barking.
Everyone out and fed and cleaned out.
I went up and locked in Kiro and Reo and then did the top kennels they all had a good wash.
Wendy and Brian popped in for a short visit, Brian cut a piece of board to put outside my office window were Winter keeps digging and he sharpened the blade on my brush cutter.
While I was talking to Beverly, the lady Tease has been re homed to Brian fixed the box in the labs kennel so the straw doesn’t keep coming out.
I cut up the chicken and fed everyone, Wendy washed all the trays and bowls and then Brian picked up in the drive.
We went out for lunch and left most of the dogs in as it looked like it was going to rain.
We came home via Mole valley as Wendy wanted to get me an early birthday present as she knew I wanted a water feeder for the puppies as mine were stolen.

When we got back Brian and Wendy left and I went to change the sheets on my bed, I couldn’t make out if Razzle had dribbled all over the bed or wet so I took the sheet and duvet off and everything in the wash.
I filled up my new water feeder and put the bitches out when I walked back in I was so pleased I had only put the feeder outside the kennel door, it wasn’t shutting off so the hall way was soaked, this one will be going back tomorrow.
I brought Narla and Siren in as it was fine rain but you got wet fairly quickly.
I hosed two of the yards and then got the evening feeds ready and washed up.
All the dogs were in by 7 pm as the rain wasn’t going to stop.
Monday
All the dogs done and a dry morning.
I checked my messages and found one of my poodle customers had cancelled their puppy I was furious as I had to do a lot of juggling to swap one of my customers from this litter to my next litter, so back to re advertising which took up quite a bit of my time today, very frustrating as I had expected all the pups to be leaving this weekend, now I have had to cancel my bitch being spayed as I don’t want to leave the last pup on his own.
I popped out to get more paint and change my water feeder.
I got home and swapped dogs and then went back to doing more adverts for the puppy.
I cleaned ears on a few of the girls and then had a catch up with Rach about her weekend out and about.
I cut the chicken and fed everyone and then sorted out the washing.
All the outside pens were cleaned and then I did some more weeding in the drive.
I had a few things to sort out with the builders.
Evening feeds ready and the dogs all stayed out until around 10 pm.
Tuesday
A busy morning with the scaffolding guys in and all the builders here.
I finished the dogs and then popped out to pick up meat.
I got home and swapped over dogs and then the rain started so I had to feed the bitches in the hallway while the pups were eating.
I got everyone fed and out but not for long as the rain was not going to stop.
I spent all day in the kennel doing paper work and ear cleaning, none of the dogs wanted to go out.
At 3.30 still raining I got everyone out again and then went to visit Nath, Laura and Sophie.
I met my sister at Nath’s house she had met Rach up country and brought Dolly down for mating.
We had dinner and then I came home.
We had obviously had some really bad wind while I was out as there were bits of branches all over the drive and stuff blown around everywhere
Shone’s group were all ok as they were down in the bottom block under cover.
Coosa’s group still had their hatch open to get into the field but they were all lying down in the inside pen.
I sorted everyone out and then brought Dolly in and fed Shone’s group and let Kiro and Reo out.
I had a late email from Hannah to ask if she could change her day from Thursday to Wednesday for grooming I thought great as I have to pop out to look at a new ray burn in the morning that would work well.

Wednesday
I woke up and the rain was terrible so Shone’s group went out quickly while I made up the feeds for the other dogs, after Shone’s group had eaten I took them down to the bottom block with Fern and thought as it is so wet I had better leave them all under cover and not in the yard.
I came back up to the kennel and the time was getting on so instead of letting out the bitches which would always be my first job I thought it best to get Ruby’s group out so Hannah had a group of dogs to start grooming.
I opened the door as Ruby comes out and eats separately from the group as being a Labrador she is a pig, I put the bowls in the rest of the group and Ruby would have normally eaten her food by now but no she was lying on the floor next to her food bowl, I saw she had a marrow bone in her mouth which was not unusual but she would drop the bone eat her food and then take the bone out with her.
I walked up and said Rubes what is the matter oh my god I was shocked she had her tongue stuck inside the bone, I tried to gently get the tongue out but couldn’t.
I got a wooden spoon and kept pushing with the long handle very carefully from the other end to try and push the marrow and the shard of bone that had splintered off inside the bone back through to free the tongue, this seemed to take an eternity and I was very concerned the shard of the bone could sever Ruby’s tongue.
I had very little choice but to persist in getting the tongue free as it was swelling so fast she was not going to make a trip to the vets.
Eventually I manged to push everything through the bone and free the tongue and then Ruby collapsed on my lap, I held her tongue just slightly out of her mouth to keep her air way free and the swelling subsided and thankfully she is fine now.
It was a stressful time for both of us but ended ok, this is the first time in 15 years of feeding bones this has happened to me, but marrow bones are off of my feeding from now on.
I got all the dogs done and then Hannah and the builders arrived so I finished off the dogs at the top kennel and then had a quick look in the house.
I took loads of washing down to the garage and then spent time out with the dogs.
I cut up the chicken and fed everyone, I had just finished and the heavens opened so everyone back in for a few hours.
I spent some time with all the pups and stayed around the kennel all-day to be sure Ruby was ok.
I had dusting and hoovering to do so it was ok.
Simon popped in to measure the new stair case.
I washed all the yards in the evening ready for everyone to go out in the morning.
Everyone fed and then the last dogs in at 9.30
Thursday
A dry start but not for long I just managed to get everyone done and the gates opened for the builders before the heavens opened just before 8 am.
I went up too do Coosa’s group they were not too keen to go out in the rain it was like a winters morning.
I went out to pick up bones and get some milk and then got back and the rain was slowing down so I cleaned the puppies out again and got some more washing done.
I hosed Kiro’s yard and then all down the side of the house where the builders had taken off the render from the house and it had left a lot of mud.
Chicken cut up and then I started to do the lunch time feeds, most of the dogs were fed in the hall so they didn’t have to be out so long in the rain.
All the puppies fed and microchips where all still in everyone was checked.
I spent an hour with the hybrid groups and then let dogs back out for another run while it was dry.
I got the evening feeds ready and then picked up in the drive for the builders leaving.
After everyone had left the dogs went back out while I fed the puppies.
Shone’s group were fed and then everyone locked in just after 8 .50 as it was raining again.
Friday
Another wet morning all the dogs done and the gates opened.
I finished off up the dogs at the top and then washed all the yards while Rupert’s group were in the front pen.
I popped into the butchers to get bones but they hardly had any.
I defrosted the freezers and then cut up the chicken and fed everyone.
The weather was so unpredictable the sun shone and the rain was still coming down.
I did some weeding for a short time and then the heaven opened again so I washed the front pen while all the dogs were still in their kennels, I was drowned so a quick change of clothes.
I hoovered in the kennel and then washed the floors and dried them.
I spent time with the puppies and then got the evening feeds ready.
I had to tidy up a bit in the garage and then sort out all the washing it was so awful the rain was coming sideways so I put all the dry towels and vet beds in my van and drove them up to the kennel to keep them dry.
I took some new toys up for the Labrador group as they have lost most of theirs in the field somewhere.
Time for a quick sandwich and then get everyone fed for the evening.
Shone’s group came up the kennel and that was another day over with.
Saturday
I just managed to get all the bottom kennel dogs out and cleaned and then fed before the rain started.
I cleaned Coosa’s groups outside pen but they were not happy about being left in the field as the rain was persistent.
I had an extra chicken carcass delivery today which was great as the freezers were nearly empty.
I needed to worm the puppies so the bitches were out in the drive but half way through the rain was so heavy I brought them all in and left them in the hall until I had finished.
I fed everyone their chicken and swapped over the labs and Narla.
Siren has ear mites and he is not too happy about it bless him he is a giant baby, I very gently cleaned his ears but you would have though he was injured the fuss he made, Narla was running off with my cotton wool thinking it was a game.
I checked Coosa’s ears while I was up the top and he loves to have his ears cleaned which is just as well as they were dirty.
I managed to get some of the paper work done for the puppies that are leaving tomorrow.
Ruby’s kennel was very dusty as her group play so much there is bedding flying around all over the kennel, so I hoovered all of their kennel and then the kitchen and hallway.
I brought out the girls from Peaches litter into the hall to have a play with them and make completely sure I was satisfied with the two girls I had picked to keep.
Next was to spend some time with Shone’s group and walk Voodoo around on the lead with Shone, that was interesting Voodoo was good considering Fern was flying around the pen like a possessed demon, I kept the two on the lead close to me so Fern didn’t fly through them and strangle one of them.
I did the evening feeds and then brought everyone in for the night thankfully I had them in and within half an hour the heavens opened up with no warning.

26th June

June 26th, 2016

Sunday
A horrible wet morning all the dogs got wet when they went out for their first run.
I had to bring the girls into a spare kennel while I fed the puppies and cleaned them out.
Everyone went out and had a run and then came back in for food all very wet.
I finished cleaning the bottom kennel and then went up to the top block and let everyone out and fed, I cleaned the kennels and washed Coosa’s pen.
I defrosted the freezers as they were both getting low it was a good time to get them done.
Next I started working through my tiding up in the office and kennel area.
I cut up the chicken and then a customer arrived to view their puppy.
After they left I fed everyone in the rain and then put the bitches in a spare kennel as the bitches were really wet.
I got dogs out when I could but the rain didn’t stop all day.
As the rain was not going to let up I went down to the bottom block and spent time with Shone and her pack as I wanted to spend time with fern.
Just going from one group of dogs to another I kept getting soaked it was beginning to get on my nerves.
The rain never let up all day so I fed the bitches in the hall and then let them out quickly for the last toilet before bed.
Pups all fed and Shone’s group up with me.
I woke up three times in the night in the hopes of getting the dogs out if it wasn’t raining but that was a waste of time it rained all night.
Monday
Up at 6 am in the rain again, everyone out and fed and then I cleaned the bitch kennels while they were in as it wasn’t fair to put them out in the rain.
I did the top groups and then down to pick up in the drive and open the gates for the builders.
I had a brief chat with Steve and then popped into town to get some milk and doughnuts.
I got home and still raining I had just done another clean out on the puppy kennels and one of my poodle owners arrived.
After she had left I finished cleaning the pups again and then wormed all the puppies.
Chicken cut up ready to feed as soon as the rain slowed up a bit, puppy feeds all ready to go.
This week has been particularly busy with pups to worm and microchip Kate came over to help me with the chipping.
Hannah has been here grooming and we have just had a problem with a few bitches having yeast infections in the ears so we have had to spend more time cleaning out ears every day.
There has been a lot going on with the builders I have different things going on in every room in the house at the moment.
By the end of the week there will be no one in the house as the slate floors are being sealed so everyone can walk on them next week.
I have had a few visitors this week seeing their puppies so this has taken up a bit of time.
I have had a vet trip with Tango for her passport to be done ready for her to travel to Belgium next month.
On very wet days I have been out picking up building materials, I had an afterthought while the tiler was here I got him to tile my ensuite and bathroom as it was going to look better than lino.
The scaffolding date is sorted and the diggers are arranged for this weekend to take out the old path.
Coosa’s group have been very good this week hardly a sound out of them so I have been trying to spend more time with them.
Most nights have been late finishes as the 4 big outside pens have been hosed down each night.
3 bitches booked into the vets to be spayed before being homed next month and my yorkie Oli is going to be castrated.
Fern is settling a bit more but she has now started howling in the middle of the night.
I have spent hours on the phone and meeting people for my re home girls and still I have 1 labradoodle girl left, this is the third time someone has booked her and changed their minds, I wish when people lose their dogs they actually think very seriously before contacting me about a dog as the time I spend with people takes time away from my own dogs.
I am now looking for a good home for Peaches my miniature apricot poodle, she is due to be spayed soon.
I have picked my poodle puppy I am keeping or rather she has picked me the little monkey, every time I go to clean out the paper and put the board into stop the pups coming out she jumps the board, she also reminds me of her grandad Rupert.
Now we are at the end of June and I am still brushing out Coosa’s coat roll on the end of next month and the coat will be out and he will look naked for about 4 to 6 weeks and then coat up again.
Last night the tiler sealed the floors in the house and only has to come back for 1 more visit just to fit the tiles in the recess where the log burner is going as the floor hasn’t quite dried out yet.
The digger drivers finished the path outside the front of the house yesterday late afternoon ready for the scaffolding going up next week.
Next I need to get hold of the farmer to top the fields as I was out with Shone’s pack and could not see them in the long grass.
I went out for a wander around the fields with the bitches to check on the fencing and all is good no digging anywhere.
I was out last night playing with Coosa’s pack and River is being such a softie at the moment she wants full on cuddles, leaving a couple of dew claw holes in my side.
Voodoo has been a little monster this week he picked up a glass full of blackcurrant and dropped it on my bedroom floor, I heard the smash from the kitchen and Cito and Shone were both stood out in the yard saying it wasn’t me.
I shut them out and gave the floor a good sweep and hoover, when I let them back in I had put a plastic bottle on the side and thought it was a better idea than a glass, well yes less mess but still not a good idea he had punctured the bottle and soaked my bed so out again and clean sheets, he is so sneaky when I put him out I then found 50 grams of tobacco out in the yard he had opened the packet and rolled all over it, you need eyes in the back of your head for that little toad.
Reo and Kiro had managed to get the chain off the gate in their yard and had a field day in my lean-to, there was wood everywhere and they had opened the bait box so rat poison all over the yard and all my gardening gloves had been eaten, so now a padlock is needed to keep them out.
There never seems to be a dull moment here.

19th June

June 18th, 2016

Sunday
All the dogs done and no visitors booked in as I had a re home dog coming back early in the morning and wanted to spend time with her and the new pack she is going into.
I spread my day around spending time with all the dogs and four visits with the hybrid girl, she was shell shocked at being taken away from her family and the children this is through absolutely no fault of the dog, it is due to family circumstances.
Dave arrived to help out for a week with some stuff for me and then when raining he was helping out in the house with the builders.
In the evening I brought Shone’s pack up to the kennel and left the hybrid girl; Fern down in a kennel on her own as she is far too stressed to be able to put a lead on her without her going mad and hurting herself.
Next was evening feeds and get the bitches out again.
Monday
Early start and everyone was finished by 8 am as I needed to see all of the builders and the plumber was also coming in, the tiler was booked for today so we would have a full house.
I had people booked in to see the cockapoo puppies and one of my labradoodle owners was coming for a visit.
After the morning madness and having to go to town to pick up tile adhesive things calmed down again and everyone was doing their respective jobs.
I had time to get on and sort out the dogs and spending time especially when it was raining with each group.
Fern is a little more settled but still not able to put a lead on her without getting her very upset, so I just sat with the group and left the lead outside the pen.
Lunch time feeds done and then the puppies cleaned out again.
We were waiting for people to come and view puppies and the carpet chap was coming to measure, by 9 pm I gave up on him and left Kiro and Reo out, they are having to be in the yard not on the drive as the new flooring is in the drive and Reo will pee all over it.
Tuesday
An early start even though it was pouring with rain Shone and Voodoo still wanted to get out.
I got the feeds ready and got everyone out as I could.
Everyone done and then the top kennel dogs needed to go out, be fed and kennels cleaned.
After they were finished I had to see each of the builders to sort out different things and then to pay for the boiler.
We had so many very heavy showers the dogs were in and out like yoyo’s, Narla opened the back gate on the door of the main kennel and let herself and Siren into the back part while the rain was coming down so hard it was bouncing 6 inches off the floor.
When it dried up a bit I went to town and got some more milk and doughnuts for the builders.
I have got the PRA test results done again for my poodle stud dog as the kennel club were being difficult about putting them as clear on the paper work so I have now registered the poodle litter in the hopes the paper work will be here for when the puppies leave.
I spent some time shredding in the office with Oli helping me.
Feeding done in the rain and then the afternoon dried up a bit.
Everyone was out for a couple of hours.
Evening feeds done and morning feeds made up.
Shone and her group went out in the drive before coming in and then all the top pack went in for the night.
Wednesday.
Everyone done and then a quick trip to town to look at more lime paint, a waste of time as the shop assistant was a muppet so home and dogs fed then another search on the internet for the paint.
We had some very heavy showers so the dogs stayed in for a couple of hours.
I did some more dna swab testing on one of the wolf dogs and got it posted.
Caught up on phone calls and emails and then had a chat with the builders and my sister came over to see how things were going in the house.
I spent some time with Shone’s group and Fern she is not really getting to a stage where she can go on the lead yet she is still very spooky, I can just about get her to take food out of my hand at a push.
Everyone fed and then a customer arrived to see the puppy she had booked.
I had to pop out to pick up bones and the post office and then to get petrol for the strimmer, back home to swap over dogs.
I cut up the chicken and fed everyone and then took dogs out in the field they got soaked with the long grass.
Coosa’s group had decided to stay in the inside pen so I went up to spend some time with them and give them some beef treats.
I washed and dried all the vet beds.
Evening feeds done and then the heavens opened so I had to wait before going to get Shone’s group in.
Thursday
A bit of a damp start but not too bad.
Everyone done and all the puppies clean.
Hannah arrived to groom and I finished the top group of dogs and then went out to the post office again and off for breakfast with Dave.
We got home and swapped over dogs that were out in the fields and drive.
Lunch time feeds done and then I had eight dogs to clean their ears.
Pictures of the pups done for updating the web site and for customers.
Lunch time feeds done and then I spent time cleaning ears so all the dogs were done on the same day, Hannah finished off the ones that needed to be done on the grooming table.
I spent time with Shone’s group and then with each little dog group.
I went down to sort out some more dates and orders with the builders.
Evening feeds done and all the outside pens cleaned.
Shone’s group up to the kennel and everyone locked in.
Friday
Everything was fairly much the same apart from a puppy leaving and then getting to spend time playing with the small puppies.
Late afternoon I went over to the vets to do a PRA test on one of my poodles and then had to pick up my old poodle stud dog who now lives with my niece, he was at the vets having a hip ex ray as he has been lame on and off and her vets were taking the mick wanting in excess of £500 for ex rays.
I dropped him back at my sisters and stayed for dinner.
I got home and spent the next couple of hours feeding and letting my dogs out.
Saturday
A normal day with the dogs.
I had some time to spend with Coosa’s group and Kirsty popped in as Lupus needed his anal glands done and nails clipping, we had a coffee and she came to see Voodoo and Fern.
As it was a quiet day with no people booked in only the ass that didn’t turn up I had time to spend with all the dogs and the weather was good so a bonus really.
I finally came up to the kennel at 9 pm to finish off before sitting down for an hour.

12th June

June 12th, 2016

Saturday
The afternoon was difficult trying to get through the day with a migraine and my hand was throbbing after a mishap when feeding the hybrids, it was a total accident, Coosa was mortified he had hurt me; he was only trying to protect his food from River.
I got everyone out and fed and then let Kiro and Reo out in the drive.
Shone’s group were in with me but I had to leave the doors open to the yard as I knew I could have difficulties getting up with my head banging.
I woke up at 3 am the dogs had all come into bed and gone to sleep so I closed the door and went back to bed.
Sunday
I woke up at 7 am still with a bit of a headache and very stiff shoulder but not as bad as yesterday, I could use my hand a little so even though it was going to be a slow morning it wasn’t too bad.
Everyone finally out fed and clean, I changed a couple of vet beds and then did Coosa’s group and cleaned it and then swept it which was more difficult.
We had a little bit of rain so I left some dogs out and did a bit on the computer with my left hand.
I washed the front pen while the dogs were in and then the sun came out so everyone out and I cut up the chicken for lunch time feeds.
All the dogs were fed and then I let Shone’s group out from the undercover pen into the yard.
The afternoon was really nice and bright quite warm but I was not able to go out much with my headache still looming so I got paper work ready for pups leaving in July.
After a while of being stuck in the office I soon got bored so I went out to spend time with the dogs and take some pictures of Voodoo as he is growing up so fast.
I got everyone fed and then spent time with Coosa’s group and Siren and Narla.
Everyone came in just before 10 pm Shone and Voodoo were over excited so I left them to run off some steam in the yard after their hour out in the field.
Monday
Everyone finished in the kennel just before 8 am and then Coosa’s group and Narla out in the field while I washed Coosa’s pen.
I gave Shone’s group bones and then got some more washing in as the weather was nice I wanted to dry as much outside as possible.
I had a quick chat with the builders and then swapped over dogs.
Kate arrived so Lobo could spend some time with Shone’s group to see how he gets on with Voodoo, we decided it wasn’t going to work as Lobo and Shone go crazy together and we thought Voodoo may get hurt.
I cut up the chicken for the lunch time feeds and then left dogs out while Kate and I went out for breakfast.
We got home and Kate left and I fed everyone.
I had a phone call from the company making my indoor kennels for the house, I was totally fuming after our conversation, I ordered the kennelling in February for delivery in May and there are so many complications with the kennel system and the delivery won’t be until mid-July, so it’s back to the drawing board again as they are supposed to be being fitted next week.
I swapped over dogs and then back to my internet searching for ideas for the indoor kennel.
I had several calls to make and things to sort out with the house and dogs today all of which were not planned in my day.
Frustration and boredom got the better of me and I went out for some retail therapy to play with the little dogs.
Next was to pick up in the drive and open the gates for the builders leaving and then dogs back out.
I spent ages sorting out sanctuary space for a wolf dog coming in finally got that sorted by 10 o clock.
Evening feeds done and dogs swapped around.
The puppies all fed and the last dogs came in at 9.30.
Tuesday
A really busy morning with the dogs and sorting out things for the builders.
All the outside pens cleaned and then a trip to get bones and paint.
I got home just before the meat delivery arrived and then a customer to view their puppy.
Lunch time feeds done and then another hour one the phone.
A few of the bitches needed ears cleaning again.
I sorted out everything in the back of my van and the builders took my big crate out for me.
The afternoon was quite hot so some groups stayed out and I went off to get some shopping and then see Nath and Laura.
After dinner I came home and let all the dogs out again, and made the late feeds and morning feeds.
Everyone in fed and locked up at just after 12.30.
Wednesday
All the dogs done and then checked my messages the sanctuary place is secure for the wolf dog, this is good news for him bless him.
Home and swapped around dogs and sorted out calls to make sure everything is in place for picking up my new van this week., insurance changed over and gap insurance done.
Kate is taking me down to pick the van up and my old van is going off to be converted into a camper.
I had a chat with the builders about a few bits and then cut up the chicken for lunch time feeds and fed everyone.
The afternoon was hot so the dogs were only out for a short time.
I spent time with the dogs and weeding while I had a group out with me.
Evening feeding done and then the dogs all went back out for an hour once it had cooled down.
Thursday
Very early start everyone done and finished I went off to meet kate at just after 8 am.
We dropped off my van and then down to Exeter to pick up my new van.
I got home and let the rest of the dogs out and fed the puppies.
Dru and Moire arrived with their dogs, they had just been to pick up a puppy from my friend Sue that was sired by my boy Chili, they had all of their dogs with them including the little Czech puppy they had bought form Rach and myself very recently, what a fantastic little dog so well balanced.
Dru has also ordered another one of Chili’s pups
I fed everyone and then they were all out until early evening.
After the evening feeding I went out to see both of my sisters.
I got home and let all the dogs back out and brought the groups in that had been left out, I finished just after 1 .30 am.
Friday
A bit of a damp start but nothing too bad, everyone done and then Hannah arrived to groom the dogs.
I popped into town to the bank and to pick up a couple of bits.
I got home and got the chicken cut up early.
Moved the dogs around and did some more washing.
I have booked the date for the scaffolding so the outside lime pointing and rendering can be done at the beginning of July.
I gave Hannah a hand with Rupert and then had office work to get on with.
The dogs stayed out until we had so much rain at about 6 .30 I got everyone in except Shone’s group stayed down the bottom block as it was dry.
I wrote the blog and made some phone calls and then fed Shone’s group and brought them up to the kennel.
Saturday
I got up again feeling awful with a pain in my neck and head, Kate rang me she is also feeling terrible we are both trying to get into the osteopath next week.
A damp start but all the little dogs got out without getting wet.
I finished the kennel dogs as Wendy and Brian arrived and we had a coffee and then they fitted a gate to divide the big Labrador pen so Narla and Siren can also be out in the day time when it’s too hot to be in the field.
I did the top kennels and then we put my cage into the new van, it didn’t work like it had done in my last van so we have had to turn it sideways and then have it at the back of the van not the side, not what I had hoped but I may buy another cage later for the van and keep the other one for the house.
Elsa my yorkiepoo girl went to her new home today Oli is very sad but he did eat his dinner eventually.
I know how he feels I don’t like my older girls leaving but unfortunately they have to have new homes when they have either had a c section or get to between 5 and 7 years old.
Wendy and Brian left and I cut up the chicken and fed everyone.
The afternoon was nice up until 3.30 when we had some very heavy showers.
I put all of the groups in when it rained and then everyone back out when it was dry.
I fed Shone’s group early as I didn’t want a late finish with still not feeling too good.
I wrote the blog and then got the evening feeds ready.
Everyone fed and then last run out for the night.
Shone’s group came up to the kennel and then Kiro and Reo out for the night.
