9th February

Sunday morning was a dry start so I did the house dogs and then the first group of puppies.
Next was up to the new kennel fed the bitches and puppies and then changed the vet beds while they were out.
Next out were the poodle and doodle groups, I fed and cleaned then out and bedded them back up ready for them coming back in, as it was dry I left them out a little longer and cleaned out the two pups.
The two groups came in and then the hybrids and Kiro’s groups went out.
I cleaned the hybrids kennels and then moved the yorkies over for the day so they had more room to play.
Kiro back in and Reo out.
After I had cleaned everyone out and bedded back up for the night I did the house dogs and had about 6 loads of washing.
Frozen feeds done for the next day and then I cleaned the bottom block.
I left Shone and Narla in the house for a while as I am trying to get them in more when I am here and around the place, I am having to leave them for a few hours each evening to go to the hospital most nights.
I let the hybrids into the top kennels while they had their food, so the little dogs went out in the field and had a good run while it wasn’t raining.
I did the lunchtime feeds then had a family come to view puppies which took longer than I had hoped.
I spent time in the house sorting out emails and paper work; it is a bit difficult to keep up with enquiries.
I alternated dogs for the rest of the afternoon.
Next I cleaned out the top pens where the hybrids were and left them just one pen to get in from the rain.
I moved the yorkies back and had a quick clean out on the rest of the dogs.
Evening feeds and morning feeds done.
I fed the pups and brought the hybrids in, locked up and then brought Shone and Narla into the house and off to the hospital.
I got home at 11 pm and let the house dogs out before bed.
Monday morning was wet windy and cold I did the house dogs and the cleaned the first group of puppies out Amy arrived and we finished the pups off.
We went down to the kennel and let the two bitches out with puppies and cleaned them out and changed their vet beds.
Next out were the lab and doodle groups we fed and cleaned them out and then put the hybrids out and kiro.
While Amy was doing water and stuff up the top I cleaned their pens and moved the yorkies.
Next out was Reo, I did his kennel and the puppies, Amy came back down and we cleaned the last hybrid kennel.
Hannah arrived to groom the little dogs.
I washed all of bowls and then bedded up the hybrids kennel for the evening.
Lunchtime feeds done ready for Amy.
I spent some time on the phone with Eclipse trying to sort out my computer as it had been hacked into again; this was without success so I thought I would wait until the evening as this was the first night I did not have to go to the hospital.
I did the frozen feeds while Amy was cleaning the bottom block, then I cleaned the bottom yard and went up and hosed the bottom block.
Amy did the straw bags for the next day and a few odd jobs.
We did the lunch feeds and a quick clean out, Amy picked up in the paddock.
I let dogs in and out for the afternoon, I brought everyone in and left the hybrids up in the top kennels until 6 pm as I had things to do and did not want to put them in too early.
I fed everyone just after 6 pm and locked up.
The yard we have at the front of the kennel was blowing around like mad and one of the mesh panels has split right on the joint at the top, I have cable tied it for now.
I spent the rest of the evening on the phone to Microsoft sorting out my computer; I have now taken out another contract with them for a year so fingers crossed it won’t go wrong.
Tuesday morning I did the house dogs and then Amy arrived and we started the first group of puppies, next down to the kennels to feed and get the first two groups out.
We did vet beds and cleaned them out and then put the hybrids out and Kiro, next out was Reo.
We fed everyone and got all of the kennels cleaned Amy dried them while I was getting the meat order unloaded and sorted out for the day’s feeds.
I fed the hybrids and locked them in for a couple of hours in the top pens so the little dogs could go out.
I spoke to the man from Sky as we were trying to set up the tv in the top kennels so we could have a decent radio station as we struggle to get a reception for anything other than radio Devon or welsh channels neither of which I like.
In the end we decided to wait until the phones have been put in the new kennels so it is easier to speak to someone and set the tv up at the same time.
We cleaned the bottom yard and bottom block, I did the lunchtime feeds for everyone.
The afternoon weather was not too good so each group went out for short runs.
I got everyone in at 5.30 and spent the rest of the evening working out times and days of who visits the hospital so we all get some evenings at home.
Wednesday morning was horrendous, the rain was so heavy and the wind was really strong all the little dogs from the house went out in the bottom block.
I did the feeds and got them back in, I was just finishing off cleaning the puppies out when Amy arrived, we went down to the kennels and let the two bitches out and did their pens.
The hybrids went straight up to the top kennels as it was far too wet to let them into the field they had their food and stayed in for a while.
The poodle and lab group went into the hybrid kennel while we cleaned them out and then back to their own kennels for food.
After everyone had been out and we finished cleaning I left Amy to dry kennels and put dogs out for a short run when it was dry.
I went to Mole valley and got my sisters stuff and some stag bars for the pups and toys for Shone and Narla to wreck when I go out and leave them at night.
Amy did the house dogs and then burnt the rubbish.
I printed loads of stuff for Janice at training then did the frozen feeds.
I popped up the drive quickly to get a signal on my mobile to phone mum.
I fed everyone Amy watched the poodles while they had their chicken carcasses.
Time for a very quick lunch, as I don’t get time to eat when I have training.
I put each group out while I was dusting in the kennels so if it really rained hard I could get them in quickly.
I had the builders come in and measure up to give me a price to put in the retaining wall and do the concreting at the front of the kennels so the little dogs have somewhere clean and dry to go out in, they are fully booked so they can’t start until mid-April but that should be better with the weather by then as they have said due to the strength of the mix the dogs cannot go on the concrete for a week.
The dogs alternated in the field and yard for the afternoon, I sorted out my training class notes for the evening and then did the feeds for the evening and the next morning.
I got the van ready and loaded up my kit bags and stuff.
The dogs all came in by 4.30 and then the housed dogs went out while I was getting changed to go out.
I went back down the kennels and fed everyone before Shone and I left.
My class was having difficulty, some were struggling to keep concentration with their heel work and other had trouble getting the dogs back after play with the dog.
We also had problems with the down stay, it took time to explain to the owners that the dogs are at a stage where they can be quite testing for a couple of months.
Shone was good the only problem we have is she is getting a little reluctant to come forward on the A’ recall and re-join handler as she thinks I may ask her to stop and she does not like the stop exercise so we will not be doing it for quite some time now.
I got home and sorted out feeds and emails and then bed.
Thursday morning I did the house dogs and the bitches then out to do the puppies with Amy.
Next we did the bitches in the new kennels after they were fed and cleaned we put the lab and poodle group out, while they were out we did their kennels and the yorkie pack and then the two puppies.
Next out was the hybrids and kiro, I started cleaning their kennels while Amy took the washing up to the house.
Reo went out next, after we had finished cleaning I left Amy to dry the kennels and then clean up from the yards.
We did the housed dogs and then Shone and Narla came in as the rain started and I wanted them to spend time inside as I was doing paper work and knew I would be leaving them for a long time in the evening.
The hybrids came in for food and stayed in for a couple of hours.
I did the frozen feeds for the next day while Amy disinfected the yards and bottom block.
Amy took the feeds around and I hosed the yards.
I did the lunchtime feeds and bedded up the hybrids for the night time.
I fed the little dogs and house dogs their chicken.
The dogs alternated in the field and yard for the afternoon and then I cleaned the hybrids pens and brought them in.
I fed everyone and brought Narla and Shone in and then off to the hospital, I got home at 9.45 which was earlier than normal.
I did the feeds and spent some time with the dogs before bed.
Friday morning was a dry start I did the house dogs and the first group of puppies as Amy was running late as there was a problem with a lorry at the river bridge.
I had the bitches with pups outside and was starting to get their vet beds changed and paper done.
We got the poodles out and the lab group; we cleaned them out and then put the hybrids out and Reo.
Amy sorted out the hybrids and I started cleaning out the next kennels.
I moved the yorkies over into a big kennel for the day and cleaned their kennel.
We cleaned the rest of the kennels and I washed the bowls and came up to the house while Amy dried the kennels.
I sorted out the meat delivery and did the feeds for the next two days.
I had a couple come and view my poodles so Amy did the house dogs while I was with the people.
We went down to the kennels to meet the dad.
Amy did the fire and then cleaned the bottom block; next she did the chicken feeds for the little kennel dogs while I was feeding the house dogs.
The poodles had to come in rapidly as the rain started again, when it stopped Razzles group went out and had food, then Kiro and Reo’s groups went out.
I came in for a while and spoke to mum and then my sister was on the phone sorting out what was going on at the hospital eventually we established that there is no more could be done at this point in time so mum is coming home.
I ordered 200 cows ears for the house dogs so when I leave them at night they have something to occupy themselves.
I cleaned the top pens where the hybrids had been in and out of and just left them one pen to get in the dry if they wanted to.
I did the evening feeds and the feeds for the next morning and then brought the last of the dogs in at 5.30 and fed everyone then did the last group of puppies before bringing in Narla and Shone for the night.
Saturday morning was dry so I did the house dogs and the first group of puppies and then down to the kennels to get the little dogs out before the rain started.
I put the hybrids up into the sloping pen with their food.
I did the two girls with puppies and changed the vet beds and cleaned the pens.
They came in and the poodles and doodles went out with their food.
Next out was Reo in the front pen and Kiro in field.
I cleaned all the kennels and then washed the bowls.
I got the frozen feeds ready for the next day and then washed the bottom yard.
Each group went out for a short while before they had their lunch, I did the feeds for the pups and the little dogs and then came up and fed the house dogs while Kiro was out.
I checked the hybrids frequently as I was worried about trees coming down on the fence as I had just seen a 2 metre panel take off and fly across the drive, the only thing that stopped the panel going over the road was that it hit the telegraph pole.
I went out in the field with the hybrids for a while and then I cleaned the sloping pen and then came down and put Narla and Shone in the house and I cleaned the bottom block.
I got the evening feeds done and the next morning feeds done.
I sat in the house for a while as my yorkie was having puppies; all went well she is a good mum.
My computer went down again so I rang Microsoft and they sorted it out while I was out getting the hybrids in.
I fed everyone and got the paper and straw and everything ready for the morning.
I did the house dogs and fed the puppies, I put Shone and Narla out for a quick wee and then got the house dogs feeds done.
Everyone came in and I spent some time on the computer and then did the blog.
