22nd March

Sunday morning was a cold and damp start but at least it didn’t rain.
The house dogs went out and then came in for food.
I put the lab pack and Sara in the bottom block as a precaution anticipating that it could rain and that I would not be able to get them in before they were wet.
Kiro came in and we went down to the kennel and got everyone out, fed and cleaned.
Coosa’s group was in the paddock and field two, Cito and Shone went out in field one and I did the fire while Dave picked up in the drive.
Next was to clean the lab kennel and then let the house dogs back out again.
I got the meat cut up for lune and then got the frozen meat out for the next day.
Dave was doing the accounts while I was on the computer.
We had a customer arrive to view their puppy they stayed for a short time.
I got the next load of washing done and then brought the shavings and food from the container into the kennel.
Dave sorted out the next lot of washing and I fed the first groups their lunch.
Dave picked up in the drive before he left to go back to Suffolk.
I fed the next group and then Nathan arrived to spend a couple of hour here for mother’s day, I finished feeding everyone and then we went up the drive and played with the dogs throwing the ball.
Each group had some play time with us and then Nathan left.
I ordered some no more dirt mats on line for the new kennel.
I got the feeds ready for the evening and the next morning’s biscuit feeds ready.
I disinfected the bottom block and hosed it all and then fed the bitches their evening feeds and the lab pack.
Next was to get my dinner in the oven ready for when I finished.
I let Cito and Shone back in the house as it was getting quite cold.
Everyone went out again for the last run before bed, everyone had treats and fish skins for bed and then I brought Coosa’s group and fed them.
Everyone in and locked up for the night.
Kiro out and the lab group in with their cows ears.
I hosed the labs yard and then took the house pack for a play with the ball and run in the drive in the hopes to wear them out so I would get a peaceful night, after their run it was in for bath dinner and a quiet evening.
Monday morning was a cold and dry start house dogs out and then Kiro in and the lab group out.
House dogs back in and up to the kennel to let everyone else out, all fed, cleaned and back in.
Coosa’s group went out and Cito and Shone out in the field.
House dogs in the bottom block.
I burnt the rubbish and then made a couple of phone calls and answered emails.
The next two hours were spent trying to sort out the Defra paper work for the puppy going to Kuwait, there is a problem with the time scale of the health certificate being signed and then the document being legalised by the foreign office.
No time for the lunch time feeds, everyone fed and out either in the fields or yards and a group on the drive.
Next job, printing paper work for the litter leaving in a couple of weeks’ time.
While the printing was in progress I was searching the internet for a company to buy 2” galvanised rolls of fencing to put up in field three to stop the smaller dogs getting out.
Two of the previous companies we used have both gone bankrupt recently.
I had a puppy viewer arrive and then I did the evening feeds and the morning feeds ready.
My next job was to hose the bottom block and then the house dogs came out in the drive for run.
I everyone and then disinfected the labs yard.
Everyone went out again as I had someone coming to view a puppy at 7.30 pm, this is not something I am going to make a habit of as it messes up my evening completely.
I finally got back into the house at just after 8 pm.
Tuesday morning was a nice morning if not fairly cold.
House dogs out and kiro in, lab group out and fed and then up to the kennel to let everyone out and fed and cleaned out.
After everyone was finished Cito and Shone went out in the field and Coosa’s group were out in the other field.
I burnt the rubbish and then tidied up in the compost area and moved loads more compost as I was up there for quite a long time Coosa’s group sat by the fence and watch me for an hour or so.
My first meat delivery arrived with the bones so I sorted out the food for today and tomorrows feeds and then froze the rest.
I swapped over dogs and then the next meat delivery arrived so I sorted out 20 kilos and cut it up and then froze the rest.
I brought the house dogs in and then Cito and Shone came back from the field for food.
I fed everyone their lunch time feeds and then hoovered in the office area and put the new mats down that arrived today.
I picked up in the paddock and then the bottom of field two and changed the water buckets.
As it was turning into such a nice day I spent timeout with each group of dogs playing ball or just sitting with them in the field and the drive.
Gordon rang to say they were on their way here for a visit with two dogs I bred as they are down here on holiday so a quick clean up in the drive and put some of the dogs away so there won’t be too much noise.
Well plans didn’t quite work Coosa’s group and Cito and Shone went into a full howl and my neighbour was on the phone within seconds.
Gordon let his 4 out in the drive his two wolf dogs and the two shepherds they were all happy to trot around and play with toys while we had a coffee.
After an hour or so Gordon left and I let the next group of dogs out and then went and fed the lab group.
I had a couple of people ring as they are waiting for my labradoodle litter to be born, they are not here yet but won’t be long she is looking big.
I swapped over dogs and then put the labs in and hosed their yard.
I did all the evening feeds and then let the house poodles out in the drive while I picked up in the bottom block and Coosa’s groups food up for the morning.
House pack in and the kennel locked up, Kiro and Reo out with food.
Wednesday morning house dogs all done and then back in.
Kennel dogs all out and fed and clean the fire done Coosa’s group out and Cito and Shone out in the field.
The house poodles out in the yard while I cleaned their room ready for tonight.
Cage in the van ready and most of the stuff loaded for tonight for training.
Dogs swapped over in the drive and I left Razzles group out as they are fairly quiet while I brought Cito and Shone back in after their 2 ½ hours out.
Coosa’s group went in the top kennel area for food and I power washed their spare pen as my neighbours had a house viewing and I wanted to make sure they stayed quiet.
After I had finished cleaning I let the hybrids out and then swapped over groups and fed everyone.
I had lunch while the next groups were out and then cleaned the bottom block.
My next task try and get a name approved on the kennel club web site for the puppy I have kept from my latest litter, it took me ages as I wanted something on a theme I have for my poodles.
Finally I decided to leave it and see if it was going to be easier next time round when I had more time to think about it.
I got everyone in and fed and then locked up the kennel and brought the house dogs in, a quick clean up in the drive and then changed and off to training with Shiraz, a quick stop in Tesco’s on route.
We had a good night all the classes went very well, especially the puppy class they even managed a stay which was very impressive at their age.
Emma did a bit with Shiraz as one of the puppy class owners needed me to jump start their car, this really hyped up Shiraz which was not good it made the rest of the class quite difficult as she was being silly.
We finished off and then I came home and checked on my bitch due to whelp, I sneaked in and had a look at her she was fast asleep and didn’t wake when I went in so I left her for another few hours and checked her again, still settled and sleeping.
The house dogs went out for a play in the yard while I sorted out the shopping.
Thursday morning was nice and bright with a heavy frost, the house dogs went out and then Kiro came in and the lab group out with food.
I went down to the kennel and fed, cleaned and let everyone out.
Next was to get the fire done and let Cito and Shone out in the field and the house dogs out in the yard while I had some toast.
While I was the house I cleaned the puppy room and washed everything up and then went back down to the kennel to do some paper work.
I then cut up the chicken for lunch time feeds and fed the kennel dogs and then the lab pack and back to the house to have some lunch.
While I was in the house I sorted out the washing and then spent some time playing with the lab pups.
I gave Kiro’s pen a quick clean out and then back down to the kennel to swap over dogs and give the pups another clean out.
I got the evening feeds ready and the morning feeds done.
I picked up in the drive and then cleaned ears on three of the small dogs.
The labs and Sara the hybrid pup went out in the drive while I power washed their yard and then got the frozen bones out for Coosa’s group for the morning.
I did a quick clean in the bottom block and then brought the lab group in and fed them before locking them up for the night.
I fed the kennel dogs and then let the bitches out for their last run.
Coosa’s group came in and then I went down to the house and fed the house dogs and let Kiro and Reo out with their food.
I had a couple of trips up to the kennel waiting for my labradoodle to have her puppies.
When she looked like starting I let the house dogs out and spent the night at the kennel, all went very well mum and pups doing well.
It was a long night but worth it.
Friday morning was a very cold start, we had a frost then sun then dark with the Eclipse then it turned into a nice day, everyone was very quiet for the morning.
Hannah arrived to groom the little dogs.
Everyone was out fed and cleaned and then the meat delivery arrived so I put Shone and Cito out and Coosa’s group in the field, Budds group were out in the drive while I went back to the house and let the poodles out.
I had phone calls and emails to let people know the puppies had arrived this took quite a while and some ignorant people hadn’t bothered to tell me they had already got a puppy.
I cleaned the house dog’s room and then my neighbour came around for coffee and a chat, after she left I swapped over dogs and then froze some of the meat and cut up the rest of it.
Now time for lunch time feeds, everyone fed and Coosa’s group all came into the top kennel area for the meat.
Hannah held the puppies while I microchipped them ready for the pups leaving next week.
I spent a short time on the computer and then another call to the embassy about the Kuwait puppy leaving next month, this has turned out to be a bit of a joke I really don’t think I will export to Kuwait or Bahrain it is far too much trouble and red tape rubbish.
My friend popped in for a chat with her labradoodle for a short time and then I got the feeds ready for the evening, everyone was fed and the last group came in at 7pm, what a long day I was so glad to lock up and finish for the night.
Saturday morning was so cold he house dogs went out and then Kiro in and the lab group out and fed.
I went up and let all kennel dogs out and fed them and cleaned them out and then put coosa’s group and Cito and Shone out while I was doing the fire and odd jobs.
I cleaned the bottom block and the puppy’s yard.
The house dogs went out in the bottom block and I cleaned their room ready for the evening.
Next was breakfast and then get the frozen meat out for the next day.
I had to buy a new keyboard as mine keeps missing out letters and its beginning to really annoy me.
I cut up the chicken ready for the lunch time feeds and then spent some time playing with the lab pups and Sara before they were fed.
I fed the house dogs next and then the kennel dogs.
I put Siren and Narla out as I had a lady come to view puppies, she wasn’t here long I don’t think she really wants a dog just a trip out.
Sarah popped in for a while and then I went and brushed Siren and Narla and then up to spend some time with Coosa’s group.
I had a look at the fencing at field three and how to change things to make it easier to get the dogs into the field and the tractor into field two and three, as Wendy and Brian are coming tomorrow so we can get some of it done and then measure up for the rest of the 2 inch wire to finish the field off with.
I spent a short time doing paper work and then evening feeds done while the lab group were out playing in the drive with Sara.
The house dogs were out in the yard but Shone was still in the house as she can get over excited and I think she may squash one of them so it’s best she goes out with just Cito unless I am in the house or the yard.
I swapped over dogs and then cooked some more chicken for the yorkies as I hadn’t got any spare bags in the freezer.
The lab group went back in for food and then locked up for the night.
I put Shone out and fed her and Cito and then had dinner.
I fed the kennel dogs and then brought Coosa’s group in and fed them and wash all of the bowls and locked up the kennel and let kiro and Reo out for the night.
My last job was to write the remaining day of the log before a night chilling with the dogs and a bottle of wine.
