31st May

Sunday morning was an early start as I had people booked in for 10 am.
I was nice dry and sunny.
I was up early house dogs out Kiro in.
I had a bath as I had gone to bed so tired the night before, I was out of the bath by 6.30 and cleaned the house dogs pens and then fed them.
Cito and Shone stayed out with their food.
I cleaned the poodle’s yard and then let the labs out with food.
I cleaned their pen and then to the kennel to feed everyone all the bitches with pups and bitches due to whelp went out with the yorkies and the Schnauzers and pups went into the front pen, Razzles group out into the field.
Everyone fed and cleaned and vet beds changed, Coosa’s kennel cleaned top to bottom and dusted.
I brought the labs in and put Cito and Shone out in the field, I left all the burning rubbish up in the top shed as it looked like it was going to rain.
I picked up in the drive and then went and cleaned the bottom yard by the house.
I came back to the kennel and wrote the last couple of day’s blog and washed up the bowls.
My 10 am had phoned to say they would be late so I stopped for breakfast and by now it was drizzling and grey.
My next job was go around everywhere with slug pellets.
I had friends arrive to spend some time with their puppies.
Everyone was fed when the rain stopped and then I put Shone and Cito in the house so I could power wash the bottom block and then go out and meet Kirsty and Jess for late lunch and then the pen would be dry when I got home.
I finished the power washing and put Cito and Shone back out with the yard and bottom block.
The labs were out in field one and then Coosa’s group went over to field two.
I picked up in the drive and locked up the kennel and off out to afternoon roast.
We had a nice meal and then I came home and let the house dogs out in the yard and Razzles group in the drive.
The labs went into the top kennel area with food and Coosa’s group back over to field one and Narla and Siren out in field two.
I soaked the puppy food and then started to feed the bottom kennel dogs.
Everyone was fed and cleaned, I brought up the chicken to defrost for the next day and got the bones out for Coosa’s group and Kiro and Reo for the night.
Morning feeds ready in the kennels.
Everyone in and fed and locked up for the night.
Kiro and Reo out in the drive and the house dogs in and fed.
Monday morning I got up with the back ache from hell but the sun was shining the house dogs went out in the yard, Kiro and Reo in and the labs out in the field, I washed their kennel ready for the evening.
I did the kennel dogs and then picked up in the drive and did the fire.
I took the house poodles up in the drive and then moved the labs to the top kennel area outside yards as they had been out for two hours.
Cito and Shone went out in field one.
I had a few bits to do in the kennel as I had people coming at 11 am to view my last puppy from the litter.
I hoovered Budds kennel and then Narla’s, I stripped out Narla’s kennel and cleaned and then scraped and left to dry while I moved Shone and Cito back down to the garden and Coosa’s group over into the field so the next group could go out.
My visitors were running late due to road works so I hoovered the kitchen, office and hallway mats.
I did do some of the beams but not many as the back ache from hell was not improving.
I cut up the chicken as everyone was going to want feeding after the visitors had been.
After my visitors had left I locked up the gates and then started to feed.
I stopped for late lunch and a top up on pain killers.
Next was to get another load of washing done and then pick up in the drive and then do some adverts.
I brought Narla and Siren in for a while and fed the labs and let them out in Coosa’s field while I power washed two of the top outside pen areas.
I did the evening feeds and let the next group of dogs out and then went back up to do some more power washing and sweep the pens that I had done earlier.
I picked up in the drive which was a task and a half my back was saying enough now and Kirsty was on the phone giving me the same lecture so I finally gave in when the pain hit a 10 out of 10.
I brought everyone in and fed them and then let Kiro and Reo out and fed them.
I finished off the house dogs and had some biscuits for dinner with a handful of pain killers and then bed.
Tuesday morning, still in a good deal of pain so I took it slowly and did the house dogs and then put Kiro and Reo away.
I did the feeds and then let the labs out in the field.
Kennel dogs all done and picked up in the drive and then did the fire.
I cleaned ears on the bitches with puppies.
Cito and Shone out in the field and then I put the house dogs out and hoovered the house and cleaned the poodles room ready for the evening.
I cut up the chicken and started to feed the lunch time feeds and then soaked the puppy food.
Everyone fed and Narla and Siren out in the field.
I picked up in the drive and off to the dentist.
I was only out briefly as there was a power cut while I was in the waiting room and they couldn’t find out how long the electric would be off for so I left as I couldn’t be sat around waiting for ages.
I got home and let a group of dogs out onto the drive, they hybrids and all the rest of the dogs were already out.
I got the chicken out for the next day and then did the evening feeds ready for the pups.
I rang the vets as Coco is having problems with her ears and needs to go onto steroids to stop the itching, she is also already on antibiotics but it doesn’t seem to be helping.
I cleaned the floors in the house and then let the labs out and fed them.
I picked up in the drive and then got the evening feeds done ready.
I cleaned the bottom yard and let the house dogs out into the other yard.
Everyone came in and had food and then Cito and Shone came in and Kiro and Reo went out.
Wednesday morning was a bright breezy morning but dry.
I let the house dogs out and then fed the labs and let them out in the field.
I cleaned the labs pen and put the house dogs back in with food.
Kiro and Reo went back into the kennel for the day.
I went up to the kennel and let everyone out and then fed them and cleaned one of the puppy kennels out and moved them into a clean kennel.
I did the fire and picked up in the paddock.
The labs went into the top pen and Cito and Shone went out in the field.
I put Coosa’s group out in field two and Narla and Siren came in.
I went off to the osteopath in town; unfortunately I have got to go back every week for a while as she was not happy with the damage I have caused using the brush cutter for too long and the side to side movement has caused a major slip of a number of discs.
I got home and didn’t feel great, it was time for lunch time feeds and swap over dogs.
Everyone was fed and the puppies re cleaned.
I had a family come to view puppies and then I fed the house dogs.
I cleaned the bottom yard and let the house dogs out into the yard outside the kitchen.
Narla and Siren came in I could see a lump on Narla’s head when I checked it she had a tick so I removed it but she still had quite a lump on her head so I put neem cream on it.
Frozen bones out ready for Coosa’s group for the morning.
I changed the field water buckets and then brought all of the vet beds in and hoovered the lounge as the poodles had ripped up a toy and made a right mess.
I put my dinner on to cook and then did the evening feeds for everyone and gave the house poodles a run on the drive.
I started to spot with rain and the forecast said it was going to get heavy so I brought everyone in and fed them before we had a big down pour.
Kiro and Reo out and fed and then Shone and Cito in.
Thursday morning looked a bit gloomy but still dry, the house dogs went out, Rupert didn’t want to go out with the poodles he was holding his head to the side like he had a bad ear, and then he started to scratch at the back door where Cito and Shone had just gone out as he will sometimes go out with them when he doesn’t want to be pestered by the poodles, I opened the door and let him out, well what a transformation he went out like a bullet squealing, it was then it clicked in my head the little sod only wanted to go out with the wolf dogs as Shone is in season, I was off down the bottom block to retrieve him and bring him back into the other yard on his own the cunning little devil. I put the labs out and fed them.
I cleaned the labs kennel and then fed the house dogs and put Kiro and Reo in for the day.
I did the kennel dogs and then lit the fire the wind was getting up so I was expecting rain.
I got the dogs out for as long as possible just in case it did rain.
I cleaned the puppies in the house out and then did the poodle’s room ready for the evening.
I checked my emails and then got the lunch time feeds ready and stocked up on shavings and food in the kennel.
I was on the phone to a friend and then the hybrid group started to howl but I could not hear Coosa howling so I thought something had to be wrong, I went out to the field and Coosa had his head up but no noise coming out of his mouth so I opened his mouth and pulled the tongue out and stuck my hand down his throat and then he managed to howl fine I think he had something lodged in the back of his mouth.
The meat delivery was late today so everyone was getting impatient for their food.
Dogs alternated out in the drive for the day and the fields.
I made a couple of calls to puppy owners and then deliveries of food arrived and then the meat came so I cut up 20 kilos of the chicken and froze the rest.
I fed everyone and left the food for tomorrow ready in the fridge.
I fed the labs and then put them out in the field.
I stopped for dinner and then swapped over dogs in the drive.
Next was to clean the labs outside pen and put them into their kennel for the night.
I did the feeds ready for the next morning and let Narla and Siren back out.
I moved one of the girls to the house as she looked like she may start whelping anytime soon.
Coosa’s group and Narla came in and then Kiro and Reo went out for the night.
The house dogs came in and had more food.
I had my labradoodle girl in the house as she was nearly ready to have pups, she does get along with the house dogs.
I spent a couple of hours with the house dogs and then I hoovered downstairs while the dogs were out for their last toilet before bed.
I had a long chat with Martine she had Luta from me and Atlaz who is doing well but she has concerns over Luta at the moment the vet can’t decide if she has kennel cough or something more sinister which is worrying as she is getting older now coming up to 12 years old.
The dogs had only been away half an hour and the bitch started to whelp.
It was a long night but everything went really well it was an easy whelping all the pups and mum are doing fine.
I went upstairs to get changed at about 5 am and all of a sudden the house dogs went mad barking and growling, I thought I could hear a strange tapping on the door.
I came down the stairs and saw a black bird tapping on the window it looked huge so I got a towel and started to flick it at the window but he still kept tapping so I let Shone and Cito out and that got rid of him.
I fed everyone early and let them out and put Kiro and Reo away.
The labs went out in the field and had their food.
I picked up in the drive and opened the top gate ready for Hannah coming in.
I did all of the kennel dogs and then moved the yorkies down to the kennel by the house so I could move the bitch from the house that had just had puppies.
I stripped out the yorkie kennel and then cleaned and towel dried it.
Hannah bathed the bitch and I moved the puppies and checked them over, they are all ok and doing well.
I took all of the dirty vet beds down to the house to wash and dry them.
The meat delivery arrived so I sorted all of that out and cut up 20 kilo’s for the day’s feeds.
The sky was not looking good the heavens opened up and it was looking like it was here for a good few hours.
I brought the labs back into their kennel; they had been out for two hours so I left them in with bones.
I went shopping for a few bits and did the banking, I got home and still it was raining heavily.
I ordered some more food as we are running low.
Hannah held Enya’s pups so I could microchip them and check their nails.
The rain was slowing down so I put Cito and Shone out in the field and let the house dogs out in the bottom block and cleaned their room.
I changed the vet bed for the house puppies and then wormed them.
Everyone was fed their lunch time chicken and Hannah had bathed and groomed all of the house dogs except Rupert.
I picked up in the drive while it was dry and then spoke to a couple of customers and a couple of complete lunatics they wanted a puppy now they are not sure, I told them to come back to me when they have decided if they are really looking for a dog.
I am still only managing to do the dogs and not getting any extra jobs done as my back has not improved at all since my visit to the osteopath which is a shame as it normally feels better after a couple of days.
Apart from a few showers the afternoon was fairly dry so the dogs were out all afternoon the yorkies have their own yard so they just go back in when it rains.
I fed the lads their chicken for the evening and let them out in the field and cleaned their outside pen.
I got the evening feeds ready and let the dogs out for their last run before bed time.
The labs came in and then Coosa’s group came in for food and I locked up the kennel and let Kiro and Reo out for the night and brought the house dogs in.
Shone had brought her bone into the house and nobody else had one so Chianti squirmed around her being so nice licking her mouth and cleaning her ears while Shiraz was sat quietly next to Shone on the sofa was watching the bone, Merlot came over to investigate he played with Shone’s feet and pulled her tail, he was totally oblivious to the fact he was going to be the distraction that would lose Shone the bone.
Chianti got her nose close to the bone and Shone held her gently around the nose as if to say no it is mine, simultaneously Merlot swung on Shone’s tail and Shiraz grabbed the bone and ran hell for leather into her bed, Shone was mortified she jumped up and stamped her feet and howled with that Shiraz though oh no and buried herself under the blanket and Chianti snatched the bone, Shone gave in and played with Rupert, they do make you laugh poodles wolf hybrids and yorkies playing together is so nice to watch.
Saturday morning was a good start and not as early as Friday thankfully I let the house dogs out and then let the labs out in the field and fed them.
Kiro and Reo went back into their kennel and then the yorkies went out in the yard and the house dogs back in.
I did the kennel dogs and took the vet beds back to the house for washing.
Drive clean and fresh water done.
Fire done and chicken out for the next day’s lunch time feeds.
Labs in and Cito and Shone out in the field.
I let the yorkies out on the drive and the house dogs out in the yard and the bottom block while I cleaned out the puppies and the poodle’s room and then hoovered downstairs and washed the bowls.
Yorkies in and Budds group pout in the drive.
I hung two loads of washing out and picked up in the yards and the bottom block.
I soaked the puppy’s food ready for the lunch time feeds and stated feeding the chicken to everyone else.
I washed the labs kennel as I couldn’t do it first thing in the morning, I was not feeling brilliant and as I am struggling with my back I am much slower.
Shone and Cito came in and then Coosa’s group were fed and Narla and Siren went out.
Razzles group out in the drive, I went and fed the house dogs and then put Razzles group away as I had customers due in a few minutes, so I picked up in the drive and opened the gates.
The people arrived on the way to their holiday cottage, they stayed for a short while and took some pictures of the puppy and they left so I locked up the gates as the next people were not due for a couple of hours.
I let the bitches out and did some gardening and then let Budds group out and carried on with the weeding.
When I went to let Budds group in my customers had arrived and were waiting up outside the top gates as they were early, they stayed for about half an hour and then I let the Schnauzer group out and did some more weeding along the bank where I planted last year.
I have managed to weed ¾ of the bank but now starting to ache so move on to the next job.
I swapped over dogs and soaked the puppy food the evening feeding.
Narla came in and Coosa’s group came down to the paddock and field two I fed the labs and let them out in the field for the last run.
I washed the back pen ready for feeding the labs in the morning and then got the washing in on my way back to the house as it looked very much like rain coming in soon.
I got the morning feeds ready picked up in the drive.
Coosa’s groups bones out for the morning.
